Where are you buying these wings in Vic? Do any of the Melbourne stores have stock?

Used the 6 for the first time today. Whoee has it got some grunt, but still super civilized and easy to do transitions with. Used second and last handles mostly to get up in light wind (10-12 knots). Dragged the corners a couple of times being used to the 4 was the only issue. More of a 2 armed pump up onto the foil compared to the 4. Super stoked

Also used my 6m for the first time today and got going upwind when everyone else was struggling downwind near the beach

Interesting using front second handle, will try that next time.

First was nice and controlled, great upwind, if powered. The second handle definitely gives you way more grunt to get going.

Geez Scotty that's making me rethink only windpole foiling in light winds. The 6m would compliment my new smik 3.5m really well

I recognise SMIK's excellent board designs and high level of customer service as a previous customer.
What I would like to know is the experience/credentials behind the design of the SMIK wings discussed in this forum.
My experience to date includes, Duotone 5m, Gong 5m , Wasp 6m, Naish S25 3.6 to 6m and Cloud 5m.

Fair question warwick
Thanks for props on boards. But my background has congruously involved board and sail development throughout my windsurf career.(92-08)
As a team rider/ tester at gaastra sails when Willem blaauw was designing around 1996 on race and wave sails / then at Naish before moving to severne sails in their inaugural year. (2004) I got to develop a wavesail pretty much tailored to my desires, with this wave sail ( the blade ). pretty much being the test winner for over a decade. (This sails mantra was controlled power).
basically I've been wind jigging for an awefully long time worked with some amAzing designers and understand and appreciate what the wind is doing in my hands. This project has been a collab mind you, between a kite designer, myself, with some input from another astute fellow who knows a things or two about toys involving wind power.
would love to hear what you thought after having a go compared to what you have tried thus far.

Bugger you Scotty! Was all settled on my 4m and 5m Wasp then I had to try a 5m Smick yesterday. Lighter, faster, points higher, more stable, pumps better the spin doctors and snake oil merchans said, can't be that good, they are full of S#%#% I thought.... Don't try one, you'll be stoked but poorer

Oh and we just got locked down for 6 weeks here in Melbourne so can't even use it now

I am struggling with the right pumping technique on the 6m as it's a big wing. I've tried mostly the back-hand but it doesn't always work well. Much easier on the 4m.... Any tips ?

As above: second and last handle, two-handed pump (different to 4m)

Thanks, I tried that today. Second handle does indeed give more start power but I preferred combined with the second last handle. Then I would quickly switch to the first handle.

Fun day on the 6m the other day. It got lighter and lighter until I was the only one flying
4m in the background was doing really well in the conditions. Thanks for the pics Greenroom. When are you getting a wing???

Just picked up a 5m Smik wing and had a session in gusty horrible wind. Coming from a Slingwing v1, the Smik was fantastically light and easy to control.
Some questions for the Smik crew:
What PSI is recommended? I went to 6 and it felt fine, but also did not seem at 'ping' levels.

Is the leash long enough? I like the spectre cord, but it seemed a bit short when flipping the wing over from a tip, or when gybing it wrapped around my elbow and was not loose enough to fall away. Maybe I just need to adjust technique.

What handles are people using got the 5m? I was using the front and second to last. Tried the second from the front and it felt wierd.

Cheers

6 to 7 but hard to compare gauges as they are so cheap and nasty. Crisp ping is the best test with no slop when pumping up onto foil. I use a coil leash not a fan of the spectre leash. First and last 95% of time second and last if light.

I've also recently switch to SMIK wings from the Echo and loving them. I like boom handling but the SMIK is night and day better on the wave, just so light and controlled hard to see how any wing could improve that drift aspect.

I'm using between 6 and 7 PSI which seems fine and about all my back can take pumping.

Going hard on the wind or overpowered I use the 1st and 4th handle. Going toe side or getting going in light air I use the second and 5th. Coming out of a Gybe onto toeside when its very light the second and 5th give you more instant power to save dropping off foil.

Scotty just got a new batch in. Had two goes on my new 5m. Some tasty tweaks, the canopy is much tighter resulting in more range for sure. Easier to get up and handles the winter squalls well. Frame feels stiffer too, nice crisp handling and pumping. Overall an improvement on an excellent wing.
