The new mast and Dlab foils are the best I've seen from DT are just next level especially the new DW range . I'll be at Hood river in a few days and the Spencer boys will be there with all the new kits . I'll get to have a crack on it then and post some pics .

see you there!

So the new foils are out. People who have tried them, what do you think? When would you use them versus the other options?

TIA

Glide 2.0 Dlab and SLS, Also new Dlab Masts Slim 2.0 with monoblock head, sizes 76 84 and 94
The downwind wing on the Maui pic is the new Hyperglide Dlab

Any news on why change mast lengths and their intended uses?Winging and before changing to Duotone 90 mast I used another brand's 85 which due to different ways of measuring was only 3-4 cm shorter. I found the Duotone more 'detached' and less responsive, I guess as a bit longer so think 94 will be even worse, on the other hand in big chop I bounce off and survive and feel with 84 I'ld smash to a standstill.

Using the 90cm myself and it flexes a bit too much in my opinion. But the new d lab masts have changed how they lay up the carbon fibers which should add torsional strength.

The improved torsional strength is interesting but still unsure if 84 will be too short and hit chop, and 94 too long and unresponsive.

I ride the 90 dlab mast in chop and small waves and have the same concern. The 90 is great for chop.
The 94 seems too long and has a wider chord so not as good at turning. The 84 may be too short and hit the chop.

I've ridden another brands 80 and it hit the chop. Has Duotone tested the 84 mast in chop?

Of course we test in chop and waves..:-) our foil designer is in Mauritius, our Downwinder test team and board shapers are on Maui, foil testing in Europe on North Sea or in Lake Garda, which has a reasonable chop. I ride both 84/94 - 94 for going fast/bigger chop or swell -- the 84 is great for freestyle /allround riding, better than the 82 in terms of clearance - and all three are far better in top end, minimum drag or cavitation issues vs the current D/LAB masts. Hope some customers who have tried them can give some reviews, remember we just launched less than a week ago though..:-)

Thanks Craig. Can you say when the 84 will be in shops, and maybe why it was later?

Hi there, most likely in shops in EU and US by November/December, but this really depends on if shops pre-order or not. We needed a couple of extra rounds of testing to get the profile right, as it is such an allrounder for Freestyle/general use. Was worth the wait though!

The new 94cm mast has a chord length of 118mm at the bottom, where it is the thinnest (13.5mm).
That chord then tapers gently to 132mm 15cm from the top of the plate. It is then 15.2mm thick at this point.

The average chord length over that section of the mast is thus 125mm which is exactly what the previous generation dlab mast was.
The average thickness is 14.4mm, which is substantially less than the 16.8mm thickness from the previous generation.

Every rider I have had on the new 94cm mast, which previously rode the 90cm dlab mast, commented straightaway about the better turning and better feel in general of the new mast.

I suggest you try find a demo somewhere to make your own judgement.

Jerome

Duotone D/LAB Slim (2024) 90cm: 1555g/3.42lbs
Duotone D/LAB Slim 2.0 94cm (2025): 2170g/4.77lbs

also just weighed the new 84 mast: 1855g/4.08lbs

Tried the Glide 620 yesterday in terrible conditions (rainy/squally/die offs w/ people swimming in)... was skeptical about the low end being on par w/ the 725 v1, but low end seem to be very good and stall speed was quite low. Was worried that 620 was too small to be an every day wing, but I don't think I'm worried about that anymore.

Wasn't too dialed yet, need to move the. mast a bit forward and/or try a tail shim... wasn't getting the front foot support I'm used to). But overall, felt positive, good glide on tiny swell and in carving maneuvers.... haven't tapped into the speed potential yet, but the 725 v1 was pretty quick. Will also try with the shorter 37 tail (60cm overall fuselage length)

87kg rider/skybrid 70/long 43 tail/4.5 wing.

Looks like a drill press it would be doable to add the 4th 3BS+ screw to a D/LAB fuselage... would hate to screw it up though, and it adds an extra bolt and tool in the assembly process.
