I could use some advice as well. I was out in about 10 knots with 12-14 gusts. I was able to get up on the gusts, but as soon as the wind went back down I would stall out. I suspect the foil I'm using has too much drag but I'm interested in hearing what people think. The foil is f-one gravity 2200, board fanatic 103l sky air inflatable, 7m f-one cwc wing and I weigh 80kg. I have an f-one seven seas 1200 as well, but I've never rigged it in low wind. Should I maybe use that one instead of the gravity?

I didn't use Gravity 2200 but from the f-one site it doesn't look (or is described) as foil that could cause such problems.

They say it have an excellent glide and is a pump machine. It seems to me that with more time you will become the low wind expert with this foil ;)

I think it would be harder for you to to foil in low wind using a smaller foil.

I would guess that you should use more front foot pressure to make a board more horizontal. Probably the nose of the board is pointing a bit upwards and with less pull from the wing that causes stall.

You can try:
- level the board as described above
- pump both the wing and the board in lulls
- ask someone with more experience to test your eqipment or just watch you riding and give you some hints

Hope this will help you in your riding, please let us know how you progress.

@choosywinger if you skip the video to 8.00 mins (seriously dont bother with the rest) you can see that I did about 10 rhythmic pumps on the foil (you need to look right at the bottom of the screen to see) and hardly any pumps on the wing, the ambient wind was around 2kts and the gust was around 6knots but it was a good steady gust (board 65 liters, front foil 1750cms, wing 6.0m) does that help at all ?

I found coordinating the wing pump with the foil pump the hardest. Now I sometimes get it right and the next day I my muscle memory seems to fail me. It's an elusive technique.
When it comes to pumping angles, I would say it depends on your setup. My Gong X-Over XXL (2200cm) wants me to pull it up and out of the water and minimum speed, my Fluid LT 1250 seems to need speed only with my Fluid XL somewhere in the middle.
I sometimes seperate pumping the wing and the foil and practice getting up on the foil only pumping the wing or the foil in winds where I feel that doing both would be helpful. Later on I put the two movements together and (most of the time) find I am able to combine them in amore useful way.
Still a long way to go and I rckon once you have got the technique dialled in, physical fitness becomes pivotal.
