We just had a wing race at a local yacht club and the wind conditions were less than ideal with offshore wind gusting from 22knts down to less than 10 in the lulls. 15 Wingers showed up and most were on 6 and 7M, while a few, including myself were on 5M. I ran my 5M OR Glide with my 86L Armstrong DW Board (6'3" x 18.75") with a 925HA wing (I'm 65Kgs). If I had been on my 60L FG board, would have definitely needed the 1125 or even 1325 at times given the holes.
The gear went awesome in the conditions and I was able to pull a 1st, 6th (botched start) and 2nd, to end up with the overall win. Looking back at my speeds and the trouble I had getting up a couple times in the holes on the 2nd race, I should have rigged the 1125, as I don't think it would have hurt me much, especially since I was basically pumping down the downwind leg with no wing help at times. Everyone was pretty exhausted after the three races, which took an average of around 15 minutes to complete (2 laps).
TLDR: DW Boards also win races lol.
Amos just released mini Sultans intended for downwind/lightwind winging (5'5" - 6'2" long, 17"-19" wide, 75-95 L). Appletree has versions of the DW Skipper intended specifically for this purpose as well.
