A few of the pros posted those videos of them chucking the wing in the air and it set a bad example for others. Just set the wing down in the water, no need to make a scene when deploying it. I've only had super small wings tumble. Put a shorter leash on them and that eliminated the issue.
My strike v3 just keeps yanking at the anchor till it pulls itself free. I think a no stretch leash would help, that and shorter but if you aren't using the quick release you should just buy a cheap anchor off amazon. The quick release is nice, have had shredded a wing in the shore break when the anchor which was stuffed under my rash gaurd was pulled out by the inside wash, wrapped around my board leash, and then the foil just did the rest. Anchorman connection is nice and secure when on the inside, no issues.

I have a couple strike v3s but have not enjoyed that wing much so I never did an anchor drop with them. Strange that it would have continuous pull to overcome the anchor. Roll makes sense but straight pull is strange, I've never seen that. They definitely act funny compared to my other wings though.
I don't think any Amazon savings would be worth it to me on the anchorman. It's $130? I'm fine paying that for the system. Every wing acts differently so I think important to know how your brand and size will act in a low stress zone before dropping it in a mission critical area.
I've tried it once, but my 2022 unit pulled free and I couldn't keep up with it paddling. Luckily a friend got it for me. Also, twice the last two sessions the waist leash has come free randomly, the second time I didn't catch it in time but caught it with a mini dw style wing board.

Yep, it's just a belt add what ever you want. I moved my coil board leash to it. Never had a problem with the belt.

I've received the anchorman leash with red larger chute but unfortunately haven't been out winging since it arrived, so can't report back any results yet
Super easy to make,costs nothing,square of kite material works perfect,1 cent coins sewn into 2 corners for a little weight,tuck it in my wetsuit (inside chest zip)
and if I feel like wing dropping I just stop take wrist cuff off and put anchor on,I even made one out of netting type material with a bit of kite material at the bottom so it collects water no weights as I wanted it to drag faster so I didn't have to paddle as far back to wing

How about a self releasing anchorman for your board? ( to avoid copping it in your face after a fall)
I upgraded to the red chute. Definitely has more holding power than the original. Have not had a run away yet.
As some of you may seen Cloud ix recently released a new product which integrated a more sturdy harness with the anchorman leash.
I was initially super keen to grab the harness only as I already had two anchorman leashes I could retrofit into the simple harness.
Unfortunately the price of the harness ended up being much more than I expected so I started looking into ways to build my own.
Enter this Ion Rogue Harness which has some really nice features like a bungeed harness hook that slides side to side and auto centres it's lightweight yet supportive and has some solid attachment points on it.
I was able to use the front attachment hook for my anchorman wing leash, the best bit is the chute tucks nice and easily into the left pocket (easier to pack than the stock leash) while I was at it now having a spare quick release I set that up on the back which runs to a kaohi inviz leash to my board.
Pretty happy with the end result!

It shares the space with the excess waist strap but still sooooo much easier to stash in there than the original pocket and looks OEM!
I bought a little dakine pouch that I put onto my harness when I'm using the drop anchor. I leave it unzipped and stuff the anchor in there and it's out of the way. can use it with any of my harnesses or belts and it comes off when I'm not using the anchor . Can also be used for a tool, epirb or cell phone in a waterproof case.
