Hi!
I like to warm up this question. I found that the P400 is so much more stable than the Skinny55 with the ART Pro 1201. So I prefer to use the biggest skinny for winging. Makes it more turnable and lively.
But I wonder about the SF 900. For me (95kg) in winging the biggest skinny makes the foil kind of slippery if not on full speed. So I thought to pick the 350P to stabilize it more. The area is slightly higher than the biggest skinny. Crazy. What u think? Experience? For prone in smaller waves the combo was OK.
Do the skinny's tend to whistle? I currently use a 380 speed with -0.5 shim. It was quite loud at first so I chopped off the winglets and did the trailing edge sanding stuff. This has toned the noise down a bit but I can't get rid of it. I don't miss the winglets, so thinking a 50 skinny might be a good next step paired with ART foils
Jo... Maybe I ll try the P350 for the SF 900. They say whistling is mostly if ur foil is not sanded. Respect for cutting the winglets I would either sell that thing and buy an skinny
but sure that would be mire expensive.
I used to wing the SF 900 with the 375p, which is a very good match , great turning and not too pitch sensitive. Then I tried the 40 skinny. No good. Super sensitive pitch-wise. Skinny 50 is the sweet spot for me. More glide and speed than the 375p, great balance overall.

What fuselage do you use?

Forgot to mention (this matters) Advanced ultrashort

I'm 95kg, have SF900, started off using 375P worked well... but found for winging I prefer to use 362/55 skinny. I use a + shim- can get up easier/ lighter wind, gives it more grab, front foot pressure but still way speed/glide than 375. For prone surf I prefer the 350P.

Hey! Thanx that helps I can try the shim because already got the big skinny. Maybe I can add the 350. Greeting's
Hi guys, just revisiting this. What is your experience for radical turns with the skinnies? I struggle sometimes in the tacks using the skinnies. I don't have this issue so much with my spitfires, but with the ART it does seem a bit hit and miss. Going to try pairing my artv2 999 with a 300 progressive. I know the ART's a different animal so I wonder how much changing out the stab will change.
getting back to my earlier post, the sf900 can work with the skinny 40, but only with the stock Axis shim +1 I believe.
I can crank radical turns on my skinny 40. I use it with most wings. It can skid out if cranked too hard but that is kinda fun too. Its like loose skateboard trucks. I went back in time the other day to my spitty 900 and 325 prog with the parawing. It was super fun. I can't imagine shimming the spitty to be more draggy than it already is. If anything I would negative shim it. I enjoyed slowing everything down and surfing some nice lake swells. BTW- the parawing is sooo fun for carving swells. My field of view is so much greater than with a wing. It also drifts real nice while I hack lips.
Here's my take...i have a 300 and 45 skinny....I wing. And sup in longer period swell/ waves, prone in slower waves and dw in up to waist high bumps. I always neg shim the 300, no shim with skinny. Spitfires were way better with 45 over 300. The drag needs all the help it can get. Ireplaced spitfires with artpros (951,1001,1051)and they felt so slippery with the skinny, although they "looked right". Took a long time to try the 300 with them. It really dampened everything down at their top end without loosing too much bottom end. I really like the 951/300. Now I have a fireball1000, and the skinny is back on. Didn't need the dampening all the time (but I do sometimes). I think the FB pitch stability is better, and it's not quite as fast, like it regulates it's top speed a bit better.
It is really interesting to try different wing sizes with stabs/shims.
I mainly ride ArtPro 1001. It likes fast everything - fast tacks, fast turns, fast waves. I find the smallest skinny that I can get away with is the best. At the moment, 35 skinny with 0.5 negative shim is the fastest/smallest that I can use. Anything smaller is just not stable enough for my 1001. I use it most in our usual 14 knots. If we had stronger wind, I would go with even smaller foil/stab. One thing for sure, a smaller skinny needs more speed to do its job.

This one especially resonated with me; the spitties need all the help it can get because they're so draggy. Very much true! That's why I have no issues pairing all spitties with the skinny stabs. Paired my 999 with a 300p stab the other day. Feels way different and seems easier to turn around corner, it is certainly not as loose but great for freeriding on flat water for example. it might be a matter of getting used to the foil to be able to master the art v2 with the smallest skinny stabs, but time will tell.
