If it's one B. Proffitt, he spent a fair bit on time at my local last season, not one g'day to any of the crew. Did his own thing without chatting to the locals. Spose that's acceptable if you think your a pro.
Show some respect to receive some is usually the go.
I'm sure he's a really nice guy, but its hard to really know.
Well Ben, i could be good or it could be crap, thats the way this wind thing works, but you know your almost a local now that you spent a whole stinking hot summer living in your van with the rest of us..
Geez lighten up guys![]()
I thought we were all a nice friendly welcoming bunch. Lets keep it that way.
Spead the love not negativity![]()
There have only been a couple of sea breezes so far so its hard to say at the moment. I'm sure if your prepared to chase the wind you will get a fair bit of time on the water.
I Look forward to seeing ya out there if you do head over!!
yeah lets string him up!
Last year he offered me a warm beer and then had the nerve to comlpain about the price!
It's the month of November so he's growin' a mo
Getting' outa UK coz he can't stand the snow
When he sees Westozwind he don't say “Hello"
Is he just shy and vulnerable? What's up with you bro?
hahaha profitt is one of the chattiest people around, very friendly and perfect ambassador for the sport.
One says its rude to not say g'day to you ''locals''
What about you locals say g'day to someone that sails better than you? and maybe ask for a few tips?
stop the bull****.
profitt: WA is the place to be! come over and teach me that ''body drag whilst talking'' thingy you keep doing.
Matt
Really??? I was a snob? I didn't say G'day?
Offered you a warm beer.. yes maybe! Complained about the price for sure!!!
But didn't say G'day? and was a snob!!
thought you were joking at first... but actually sounds like your not!
Where.. when?
Ok.. i know its just one person slating me but this is bugging me.. so i've been trying to think when it could have been.
The only thing i came up with is the Wedge island social event. Which me and justyna turned up a little late but i thought it would be a good place to meet a few people so i wanted to go.
Which as soon as the heats stopped everybody buggered off back to perth.
I thought it was going to be beers and stuff after sailing.. anyway didn't get chance to speak to many people and it wasn't very social apart from the people who knew each other already!!
Me, justyna and a few others (Graham etc) stayed for a sail and it was pretty fun.
It's probably not that.. but thats all i can think of!
Not sure why i'm bothered by this but dont like someone slating me with little facts!
Back to the original question:
Weather: Cape Town's SE blows as regularly as Dr Freo, but is usually stronger, and often gets too strong in the afternoons, as in 3.5m2 sail in survival mode. I'd say - parity with WA on this point.
Water: Freezing cold in the Atlantic, except for the toxic freestyle pond next to the refinery (Zandvlei), and the secret flatwater spot South of Langebaan. Warm everywhere in WA. Waves are actually very inconsistent in CT, despite what the recent Fanatic/Swedish/German/Dutch videos would make you believe. Advantage to WA here (but not quite Perth).
Financial Considerations: CT is cheaper to visit and live in, but so is your life there. I'd say, parity with WA, considering the risks.
For me personally, WA is the place to be, despite some sensitive locals
.
its gonna fkn go orffff like it allways does Iff ya in da right place at da right time, but it might cost ya a million dollers for ya weak pound,,,,,,,just on the hot line to da huey and he says all da planets are alining for a season never seen befor!,,,,,,,Rumble in da jungle we all will..dont forget to smile boyz.
Pay no mind Ben...... haters gonna hate & all that.
C,mon WOW - don't hate the playa....hate the game...!
Shared some waves with Ben at Lano - he even called me on a couple when I was clearly Kookin' it and he was happy to have a chat at Corro's one time - we where VERY happy just to be in the vicinity of Justyna. Then she sailed rings around every one that day - respect.
He even gave us a wave from his sh#tbox van when we past him on the way back to Perth.
No prob's having him back in WA - come & enjoy....!
AB.....
No Justin is a guy, in the other white van next to Ben's, sometimes he can be mistaken for a girl with his long hair, feminine figure and the girlie sized gear he rides..
hi Ben and Justyna !!-would be great to have you guys back over. Always fun to have the English Polish energy combo around.
WA is always windy in summer - as long as you can bias towards margs and the south coast (more yummy Esperance and Denmark action ) and then bolt up the wets coast when the pattern is on.
Margs and South coast are getting windier over time. Which is good as thats where some of the better wave power is.
The west coast on the other hand seems to be losing its mojo ever so slightly- but as you know Corros and the desert north are there for the picking when the patterns on ! Obviously its the difference between regular 5.3 vs regular 4.2 in South Afreaka. WE like to think our waves are better (becasue we cant jump for **** here ) but maybe the African waves are good too.
I reckon that sums it up. I'm gonna spend summer trying to emulate the profitt fwd technique. Sick controlled big high ones off super high backie senders! But i'll probably just end up doing a bunch of pole vaults...
our smoother waves MIGHT be a better proposition for Justyna's foot healing.
