There are some very interesting thungs being planned for the next Cervantes Speed challenge later this year.

Reg with Col are putting their evil minds together and to get the Helicopter up to Cervantes for the challenge and make it a bit of a photo shoot for anyone interested in getting some top notch aerial photo's of themselves blasting around in an awesome area.

What the general idea is that for a nominal fee (you would have to register interest up front) there would be organized areas and times to sail through the "Photo shoot area" where Col would weave has magic and shoot the hell out of you whilst you sail past.

The fee will cover the shoot and you get to keep the picture files so you can get whatever developed or you can get Col to enlarge.

From the numbers bandied around on costs it's in the range where even I should be able to afford it and a small portion of what it normally costs for a private photo shoot. More details will be posted by either Col or Reg when it's all sorted.

Col himself has some major wood over the idea as he just loves the colour of the water up there and thinks it's a photographers dream.

More details to follow as they come to hand.

Awesome. Might even have to come up and do some runs even though I only have wave gear - hopefully 20kn looks like 40 in a still?

As mentioned, Reg from Windsurfing Perth has organised for us to bring a helicopter up to the Cervantes Speed event in November for two full days of aerial photos/filming. Cervantes has one of the largest area's of pristine aqua water along the W.A. coast, so it's just perfect for stunning photos of windsurfing. Also, being a speed event this will be an opportunity for windsurfer's of all levels to get a photo from the heli as we will be following each person down the course plus we will be producing a video of the entire weekend including the "run" from Hangover Bay. More good news is that Paul (pilot) who did the great flying job in the 08/09 Lancelin races will be doing the flying at Cervantes.

Mark - There's a few waves nearby so will be looking into doing some wave shots as well if conditions are good. Anyway, more details soon and here's a few photos of the water colour at Cervantes.

Count my ugly mug in

I might finally get a photo of myself windsurfing.
To date there is no pictorial evidence that I actually windsurf.

What are the dates?

Chasing them down the course with a helicopter is CHEATING
Speeds will not be ratified and will only be good for pub chat.

I'm there!!

Great pub chat after a good day sailing at the local tavern by the way...

The sheltered swell across hangover bay is quite spread out and long so makes for awesome blasting inbetween them.

If anything breaks u will be washed straight onto the beach so very safe location with water generally 1-3m deep.
