Hi all,
Just putting feelers to to see if anyone is interested in some RBing with the Busso Yacht Club over summer?
Ive had a word with the outgoing Commodore and he thought it was a great idea.
Every Sat sailing around the buoys with the yachts. This will give a purpose of our day on the water.
Probably looking a one Sat per month as a race so those that are willing to travel can commit for the points race. The other Saturdays will be training races without points being awarded.
We have 2 or 3 RBs here in Busso with pilots and 2 spare boards (BIC Bamba 244ltr Mistral OD 235ltr with extns & unijoints) just bring your rig, big rig! We will be on 8.5m and really old sails
If you have any question or suggestion please contribute.
Cheers Dave
I will also try to keep race dates different to the Summer Slalom Series once they have been sorted.
Dave
I would keen if I am in town.
My race board is only 2.2m long x 1.0m but points really well.
More the merrier.
My biggest wave sail is a 5.7m.
I could be keen if there was wind and zero swell.
Never done that kind of sailing before.
Count me in Dave, will need to be after I get back from work trip in November though
Brilliant youre in too.
But you will have to post on GPSTC!!!!!
There must be some other RBs in Perth. Come on and join in.
Hi Dave, I will bring my Mistral Equipe LCS XR 1988 with as big a sail as I can find. When you publish the timetable I will make an effort to make a race or two...should be fun...Cheers Richard
PS picture is of my board being rigged up on a very light wind day at Hallucination Bay..
Hi Dave
Great to speak with you yesterday. Yep, I'm up for some racing in Busselton. I live in Perth so won't be able to sail all the time but definitely keen.
Cheers
Simon
Thanks Simon & everyone else who has shown interest.
Tuesday night I will be going to the GBYC meeting and I believe that I have the floor first... Farq!!!
Nah I should be ok ??
I'll update ASAP Wed/Thurs.
Once again we have 3 extra boards available here if anyone else is interested but doesn't have a race board.BYO rig though.
One Formula board has show interest too.
Dave
Update time.
On Tuesday night I was invited to attend the GBYC meeting and was given the floor first. Straight after the apologies.
About 10 members were there to listen while I gybed, tacked ran down wind, water started and finished in 20min! Great bit of sailing/selling!
Bottom line is that they will discuss how we can be integrated into the Saturday sailing and get back to me.
Ill be looking into the yachting rules re windsurfing & safety equipment- stay tuned or have a look into it online.
My feeling was positive from them all so fingers crossed.
Too date we have 7 interested and 1or 2 extra available boards (BYO rig)
If anyone has any questions or suggestion please post or PM me.
Cheers Dave
Great work. Drop us a message if you need any help with insurance info etc for the club.
After the Raceborad Worlds in Brisbane this year there will be a few boards being sold iff from the event charter fleet. Will pass on details when they come through.

Thanks very much.
I am yet to locate a downloadable yachting rules that I can pass around to everyone (the windsurfing section).
We will be either joining GBYC as members or WEA or both. GBYC will be advising how non members can be integrated into the weekend sailing.
So info re WWA members ins etc would help so I can ba armed and ready for the next meeting. A link is fine.
Thanks s all for the moment.
Cheers Dave
Link to AWA insurance info www.windsurfing.org/insurance.htm
This policy provides third party insurance cover. I think yachting australia will still require you to get a "silver card" i.e. yacht club membership but i will check with some of the east coast windsurfers on how they work with yacht clubs.
Hi for anyone local to Perth , I have anF2 lightning race that is not getting used, looking for $650, regripped and strapped last year, e mail me if you are looking for a board, cheers Doug

Don't know if this is helpful or not but at RQYS in Brisbane, RSX, Raceboards, Techno's and Formulas integrate into the dinghy fleets with zero problems. The windsurfing fleet shares the Southern course every weekend with Lasers, Opti's, Sabres, Finns, Contenders and Hobie 16.s and skiffs.
The usual setup is a seperate start for each fleet and they run a trapeziod course to help seperate the fleets although when we do share the same course and same start there is never any problem. I am sure the sailing office at RQ would be happy to talk with your club if that helped them feel comfortable with windsurfers.
Good to talk to you today Dave.
Great that someone is interested in getting the old longboard type of racing happening in WA.
I used to do this in NZ on the Superstar in the early 80's.
I'm hopeful that triangle racing will be resurrected in Perth.
Don't have a raceboard of this type at present .. would certainly be interested to hear from anyone around Perth area with one to sell. That Equipe of yours looks real nice Dave .. perhaps I'll get lucky and find one!

Hi Jez,
When you find one you will still have to come down and sail at least once with us.
Or just come down an use a borrow board, you might buy it!
Cheers Dave
Time for a quick update.
I have had a verbal reply that we are welcome to sail with the other boats on Saturdays he's in Busselton.
I now propose that those that want to, come down to Busselton for a sail next Saturday 12 November.
Please reply to me so I can let the GBYC know of us arriving. I would like this to be a fun exercise with as many RBs in the fleet as possible. We will go around the bouys to see how we fit in and like the feel of being with all of the boats.
I would encourage you to all read the yachting rules for windsurfers. Right of ways etc.
Please everyone make sure that your kit is sea worthy.
Fees will be discussed but you are welcome to join the GBYC as members. Joining WWA would also be a good idea too. Think race numbers.
I will look at getting the races that count, championship points be on weekends opposite to the slalom summer series.
If anyone has a question please ask away
We have 3 spare race board so bring a rig if you want to join in.
Cheers Dave
This weekend was a fizzer with no windsurfers on the course. I bit of a bummer and I will be out next week unfortunately.
But I have had written feedback from the GBYC.
The sailing committee decided on a pro rata membership fee for the windsurfers based on a race per month $100 and nomination fee on the day being $10.
They have even made a special start flag for windsurfers too.
So now its time for us to make the effort to come and test the sailing here in Busselton. The first race will be nomination fee only.
Don't forget to read yachting rules and join WWA. At this stage numbers will not be compulsory.
So who is in for next week or there after?
Cheers Dave
I'm at RB worlds next weekend then in Darwin for a few weeks where I won't be going anywhere near the water.
I'm keen to meet up for a sail though. Maybe over the Xmas period or in the new year.

Brilliant. Let me know of a date and I can get a crowd here on the bay!
3 is a crowd here at the moment
Well still no takers for this saturday out of the GBYC.
Slalom series starts this saturday and the forecast looks appealing so I hope those guys have a great day on the water.
Is anyone keen for Sat 23/11?
Cheers Dave
The breeze has been filling in and the boys are set.
Any takers for a bit of sailing around the markers Sat arvo in busselton?
Cheers Dave
Anyone sailing today?
I have a green light so will be pacing myself around the bouys this arvo.
Mistra Eqipe 2 & Sailworks Retro 8.5.
I've just done a fix to my centre board gasket so this will be the test of my repair skills.
It also appears that here is a lady interested in going around the bouys too. Local lady.
Have fun those in the summer slalom series today.
Cheers Dave
It was a beautiful day on Saturday just a little light being 8ish knots.
Unfortunately for me i forgot my watch and with the light winds i missed the star,t which had been moved because of the wind direction to over nearer the jetty.
There were about 40 boats out but not being too fussed i went out and floated around and watched from a safe distance.
Even though I didn't race it was nice being out on the water near to the sailing boats.
It looks like another awesome day this Saturday with the wind building from early afternoon.
Anyone wanting to come and have a go. be on the water 1pm. Looks like there will be 2 of us on the water so far.
Cheers Dave
There will be 2 RB s on the water on Saturday and if anyone else wants to join in please do. Meeting 12-1230 at yacht club or if we decide just to cruise maybe somewhere else.
Dunno return trip might be on the cards.
Cheers Dave
Just put my Loft Blade 5cam 8.6 and Severn carbon 4.90 mast in for sale if anybody is interested. 2012/13 model, both in good condition.
