bluejuice2...
not sure how big your boat is, and how dificult it would be to rig a windsurf sail, launch and get back in the boat... but if you could tick all these box's, then organise some wave sailing trips to the breaks at rotto and the abrolhos islands. I know a lot of windsurfers are keen to get out to rotto, but can't be bothered with the ferry, bike ride, trolley etc etc to get to the good spots.
Done 2 very rewarding Abrolhos trips, winsurfing and fishing,...would have loved to do something similar at rotto.
A social sail / get to gether for kids/teens would be good.
The kids who sail are more likely to get enthused and keep going if they have friends who sail.
I'm dragging this thread back up.
I'm proposing a wave/freestyle event similar to the latest PWA event. I think Dutchies would be the ideal spot. Or maybe link it up with the LOC.
Where's Bertie? Did he end up going to Darwin?
im keen for the rotto trip sounds good, and a mate is keen to go as well... only prob with small boats is getting them round in a 20-30-40 knot wind at a funny direction with some huge swell smashin against the boat, but i guess if everyone is sorta flexible it can work...
I want a freestyle event to happen Hoop. I even want to run some freestyle sessions one night of the week ( maybe Mondays) maybe twice a month, to get all the freestyle crew together like the slalom thing. ( yeah i wanna have a crack and am going to need lots of pointers
)
We have a committee meeting tomorrow (wed) so we will bring it up.
Should we pencil it in as the "Dutchies Nude Freestyle" ??? what date??
Nah i'm not in Darwin yet. Fly up on the 16th. got a months work lined up. Def going to be back for a gnaraloo trip.
THE SEABREEZE LEGENDS WAVESAILING CLASSIC
you invite everyone from seabreeze to a location that gets epic waves.. maybe some place like margs,
then you hold it over a week hopefully with **** conditions all week with epic conditions to show up for the last day or two.
the judging criteria would be,,
competitors stand around and talk themselves up all week, telling tales of sailing double mast high waves at places that are lucky to break at head high, how back in the day they did this and that.
then when the condition come on you have to either suck, bork and try to get the location changed to a smaller venue while still trying to maintain your legend status, or not go out at all.
who ever talks it up the most, then ****s their pants the hardest wins.
what do you guys think??
it's an event everyone can enjoy, you don't even need to be able to windsurf
