Sorry for confusion, i was editing this morning and did not realise the page was live and you are all meant to be working not checking results.

Method is a mashup of the DAFF system and a traditional point score as there was not enough sailors or time to run a full DAFF. Idea is to keep everyone sailing and to balance out skill levels to challenge the good guys and ensure we mortals don't get stuck at the back of the fleet all the time.

Any suggestion on how to improve would be greatly appreciated keeping in mind we have limited time and usually around 20 sailors.

I have a suggestion,

All the "usual suspects" start 2min after us mortals.

No, I actually think it's great the way it is. It's good to have the "gods" at the front to try chase.

I guess from their perspective though, maybe some form of handicap system, where everyone starts 10 or 20sec after the next slowest competitor? It'd give everyone more of a challenge having to chase down people rather than just accelerate off the start line?

I would think it'd be more of a race on its own though. Slalom I think should always be everyone starts at the same time...

For what it's worth I really enjoyed the day. :)
From my own perspective as a first timer I would have liked more time between heats as I was struggling with fitness and energy, but now that I know the format I'll make sure I eat closer to competition time So I have more energy.
The venue was fantastic and I learned heaps.
Cheers for putting it all together.
