i found the trick was to lift back foot up to nosedive the board. that spins you around
this my take on the flaka

bear off wind almost dead down wind
bend knees rake sail back this digs leeward rail in to get pop
then staight legs thow sail forward, more at nose of board than into wind [should b airbornenow]
lift up back foot to realy dig nose in
the rest is history

whenever i start stuffing them up i go back to raking the sail back harder, thats where the momentum starts

good luck

Hi Guys,

Just having a look at my board setup at the moment and want to set it up for freestyle, i'm looking particularly at the footstraps at the moment and at present i have my straps smack in the middle of all the holes with a single strap at the back but for freestyle where does everyone else have their straps, i was thinking about moving them as far forwards and inboard as they would possibly go, is this a good idea?

Also how big should the straps be? alot of eopl say massive but how big is too big / dangerous before your feet can get stuck into them and lead to broken ankles?

Hi Ali, i just shaped and painted your fin. will wet rub it tomorrow morning before work.

As to footstraps StakaFlaka recommended me to run everything as far forward as possible to help with keeping the tail out of the water while sliding backwards.

"straps all way forward, narrow and high so the wide part of foot [just behind toes] squeezes though strap and high so strap in middle of foot"

I'm running mine tighter than this coz i'm so bad a freestyle i'm falling off all the time and "need" to come out of the straps easily. once i've improved a bit more i'll be opening them up.

WindsurfingWA are looking at running a few freestyle comps next season. For now we are just running a few practice sessions to encourage everyone and help them improve. The more people who bring their awesome flatwater skills in from over seas the better!

Lancelin does have some nice flat water for freestyle. Also try Cervantes for the flat water and strong winds.

Hey guys!

Whose going for a sail today then?

I was gonna head down to WSP and pickup the new fin from Alex and then head somewhere for a sail afterwards, is anyone else going for a sail near WSP?

Ali
