At this stage of the year/season, we really need to start talking about the 2012/2013 Nationals.

I'm not telling anyone how to do their job, but when i was sailing skiffs, we held an AGM during the Nationals to decide when and where the next club/state/nationals were going to be held. Everyone involved can have a vote and voice their concerns or approvals. That way everyone can leave knowing there has been an agreemnet on the next venue and plans can be made. Just a thought.

An AGM was held at the Nationals every year up till the mid 2000's when people lost interest. The same people were organising it and were committee members. They moved on for various reasons e.g work, starting family etc etc. No new blood came through and this is where we stand today. bowsa has put his hand for this years Nationals which takes some gonads as there is a lot of organising to do. I know, as I have done several of them, state and national. Even if a commitee is not formed at this years AGM, maybe we could agree on where the next Nationals will be held. This way if anyone is interested, they will have approx 12 months to prepare. As I said before there is lot to be done to run a competition, council approval, sponsors, aquatic license, media etc but if load is spread, it makes it a lot easier to come together. The best way to keep this competition running is to participate. Why not start this year. I will be there.

Hi folks!

An update on all things 2012 nationals:

So we have had to start up SEQ wavesailing again as an organisation to run under WQ (windsurfing queensland) and AWA (australian windsurfing association) in terms of insurance, SO this means that people entering the competition will need to be either a member of WQ, or an AWA affiliated organisation. If you are not a paid member of one of these organisations there will be a process whereby you will need to become a 'member' of SEq wavesailing for the week of competition. More details on this will become apparent in the next week or so.

We are also in the process of producing an official 2012 Wavesailing Nats website with entry form links etc. When we have an official poster of sorts I will start a new 'official' 2012 wave nats thread.

We have also had JP / Neil Pryde jump on board as our official sponsors which is fantastic. We also have two official judges pencilled in to the event and a p[ossible photographer/cinematographer for the event!

SO, what you all need to do is get pumped for a week of gold Coast epicness (we've already had the South East trades blowing which is a good sign for months to come!) and get yourself up to the GC for the week of the 10th-17th March!

More updates very shortly!

Chris

PS: to those overseas sailors who have privately contacted me regarding entry. Yes, you will be able to enter but will need to become a part SEQ wavesailing for the week of competition as outlined above.

This was a verry verrrrry light wind year, almost unsailable, which was dissapointing as there was sufficient ground swell to make a great comp. This short video only shows a few of many waves caught over that weekend...

If you compare it to the L.O.C. just run (which most would consider one of the most prominent wavesailing events in Australia) it would definitely be on par, but bigger, meatier waves!

As per all competitions, no one can control the forecast. We can only cross our fingers.

Trust me, the Gold Coast has the goods

reflex - yes it does get better

unfortunately wind didn't show up at that comp, and those who went out did well considering.

sorry everyone, that video wasn't meant to be bad advertising for the event and i put it up in good faith, and we need more events like the currumbin one
