If there is no superior designer, then man is in big trouble with our planet.

It's always been something. The environmental crisis isn't the end of the world but it could well precipitate a lot of nastiness. In any case I wouldn't be expecting God to bail us out. Moral support from God is one thing. Doing nothing about your problems except praying is suicide.

Here is an interesting quote from Werner von Braun, who had a lot to do with sending American astronauts to the moon (thats supposing you believe they actually got there...on no, shut my mouth, there's enough tree shaking going on) anyway he said "The natural laws of the universe are so precise that we have no difficulty building a spaceship to fly to the moon and can time the flight with the precision of a fraction of a second. These laws must have been set by somebody"

That's the common leaning for scientists with a religious bent. There are I think 6 fundamental parameters to the natural laws that built the physical universe (Martin Rees "Just Six Numbers"). If any of these varied even minutely the universe would not support life. Some like Werner, see the hand of God in that. Others of a more pragmatic disposition simply see that that's the way things are and if they were different they would be different - so what? The difference is "the anthropic principle". Some, no MANY, people believe humanity is God's major work. (But what would you expect from a religion invented by humans?) If you believe this then its natural to think that the universe was made to suit us, or our existence at least. As Wet Willy pointed out so ably there is no argument there, no proof, just circular incestuous self referencing. As Mr Wriggly once said "Believe it or not", and he might have added "Suit yourself - truth or delusion."

I thought you were enjoying this thread Elmo. What's with the dummy spit?

The argument for having it here is that WE are here. We Seabreeze fans are the participants. So I respectfully disagree.

You don't bl@@dy know it, you silly bugger, you just believe it. You get a warm fuzzy feeling and assume it's God. Nobody really knows, I thought we'd gotten that part straight at least! You like going in circles, eh?

Wind, God - No Same Same! kapeesh? Diff-rent! Difffff-Reeent! Unless you have a "God meter" or they're showing satellite photos of God on the weather tonight.

BTW calling me "Wet Pen1s" is going to send this thread in a direction where Laurie will be tempted to lock it...please let's refrain from insulting each other, ok?

It's a debate, an interesting one, where thought and logic, not emotion and blind belief, are the order of the day. If you can't hack the pace, just hang back and watch, sonny!

Hey Wet Pee Pee, Limp Willy or whatever your name is, no hard feelings. I was just trying to be funny not trying to get this thread locked. Sorry about the name calling and dunny paper. Maybe you would like some of these instead?

Kidding kidding hahaha!
I have plenty of thoughts and ideas on this topic but we all know how hard it is to have a discussion about such an interesting subject with so many available tangents.
Here are just a few of my opinions which we have already concluded are different to your opinions, so dont feel obligated to try and have a come back because to me at the moment you are just merely a somebody that I know nothing about and by trying to knock me down with your opinions, which you obviously have and are sticking to, wont make me change my mind. All that I know is that you and I love to windsurf and thats why we are here. But to me you sound like a person who has to have the last say. This is fine by me as Im so not the competitive type. So go right ahead as Im out from this thread but just want to leave you with my testimony.
One thing I find funny is that you sound like you are telling me what I know and what I believe? I KNOW that God lives. Through plenty of searching, studying and more importantly faith, which led to a yearning to really know, I have recieved personal revelation regarding this topic. Not just warm fuzzy feelings. I believe in visions, prophets and apostles etc. If there was a God you would think he would answer you yeah? So why not ask Him if He is really there? With real intent. Ask to show you a sign? It may not come as a bolt of lightning or straight away. Could take weeks or years. But why would I even start to share my personal experiences with someone who doesnt have the desire to listen with an open mind and soften their heart. To me you seem like you already have your mind set. This is cool with me. Im not too keen on casting pearls before swine lol.
I also dont feel like this is going anywhere. Kinda pointless really but interesting to read. Some people look like they are really enjoying this thread and can get right into the debating thing but not for me thanks, especially over the internet.
Just like Laurie, my graven image, has said, there are other forums where this can be debated.
No hard feelings.
Peace brother.
Amen

No hard feelings either Greenie, love your work, but...

...there you go with that word "opinions" again...it's not a fight between you and me, it's a comparison of ideas, and you seem unwilling to put yours up to scrutiny... nobody's trying to make you give up your religion, dude. I was just laying it out the way a logical thinker would; no room for leaps or assumptions, just step-by-step, like Descartes...oh sh!t here I go again...noooo...

...but that's just me I guess. My major was Philosophy, and while I sent most of those years smoking doobies and watching the Simpsons, when it comes to a debate I can get real logical all of a sudden.

So good on you for sticking to your guns, and I don't want to leave with a snide remark but it's oh-so-tempting...go on, post one more time and I won't answer back. Promise!

Ok, everyone to their own (which was the gist of my earlier posts)

I don't give a rats rectum one way or another whether people believe or not, that's their choice.

To me it's one of the more pointless arguments around.

Last post for me on this thread.

Toodlepipsky peoples enjoy the Mass-debating
