i guess it depends on the wave and location to some extent. I found the more drawn out turns the longer boards fun but also was chasing something more snappy.. prob. Need both lol.
The answer is always both and the van to carry them.
Or moving somewhere with better conditions.
I thought I had to make a choice on selling an older ultrakode as the new ultrakode seems to suit me more. Today that "how many roads must a man walk down before you call him a man" song came into my head.
With a chuckle I decided as long as I've got rack space then the boards can keep coming.
I'll just pull out the fins and straps so I can store a few more. I like the idea of getting bored of a board and playing around with other shapes, picking a board to go to the beach with might be more like buying lollies (candy), "they all taste good but what am I hungry for today?"
Saying all that I'm trying to stay away from the windsurfing second hand websites.

Go the older model freestyle board. Cheap as chips. super light and plane super early. Pop a freestyle wave fin in the box and good to go..

I like the idea, but not sure where to find them.
I trawl the used gear pages, look at online shops. they come up from time to time..at least in Australia they are relatively affordable used because most people think they are too specific so there is a smaller market.
i had a 110lt 2012 starboard flare, vowed if I ever found a smaller version I'd buy it. found a 90lt 2014 version which is almost the same board and grabbed it. then a Patrick came up used. 100lt. grabbed that too.they are all full carbon and only 6.3-6.6kg. 10-13 years old now. The Patrick more recent but before the super short trend. starboard 2012-2017 had an amazing team and the board shapes I have found to be fantastic.

Exactly that! Always bring all your gear to the beach. Ok, I've got too much gear, but at least bring small, medium, large board, and all sails that go with those boards. Then your foil if you're into that.
hmm.. but then you run the risk of analysis paralysis

reckon make a call and go..yesterday even though we had some wind we took the lt ..
the trailer has sups, surfboard and a windsurfer lt as well as wave/slalom and freestyle boards plus sails and hardware.

lol. Me to a t. I went from, I only need one board and 3 sails to a trailer.. It's nice to mix it up. Each discipline offers something different.
Even when done at a weekend warrior level.
Unpacking the trailer last night I commented to my son that maybe we have to many boards and should sell a few.
He says, it's not we have to many, it's that they are so big.
I like it.
