Poor relative..YOUR on to it ... STORM FRONT HIT Geraldton after it was glassy and off shore with clear skies till 11am . out of nowhere the cloud built within 30min to a massive tracker blade which rolled on through from the North east shaking the sit out of the area .........its on its way down the coast ,it was quite scary.
Last night was the electrical storm from hell. OH Ps We snatched it.
All should be well ........mind you the **** flying around the town was not good.....

You made the right call King...

tbh I was one of the ones who was hoping to go sailing, and I'm glad no-one listened to me!

Can't imagine what it would be like to be looking for someone in 50 knot winds.

Good call King.
Better to sail, fish SUP Surf dive collect shells etc another day than to have permanent regrets.

Cant help but wonder what it would have been like though.....

The right call KOTP, I have already been thru Bianca at sea 2 -3 days ago off Dampier, and it wouldnt have been pleasant for any non-mariners.
Id expect the swell at the islands to be very confused as the system is moving rapidly past there as opposed to a front which is generally much further away and travelling roughly towards you.
The sea up here has settled now but yesterday it was just like that patch inside hells gates, coming in from several directions.

Theres only one thing predictable about cyclones-theyre unpredictable.

I went to bed about 12am thursday night. Woke up at 3am and snoozed until 330am. Got up and packed the car. Stopped by the chemist for some travel sickness tablets and head to Lano for my first SUP in almost 5 weeks. I put a booty on my busted foot and taped around it for extra padding around my broken toe. Went for a paddle for a couple of hours scoring some fun waves. Still excited about the trip I got in the car and headed to Gero. Caught up with Mark and Nebbs at Sunsets wishing that the wind would blow another 10 knots so we could sail before getting on the boat. It didnt happen so we met up with Gazza and Miller and the rest of the crew at the boat. Everyone was excited but also thinking what was ahead of us in the way of the cyclone. So while the rest were loading their gear on the boat Miller and I went for a SUP. We hit the sucky left with a few boogers trying to act all hardcore. We thought it was time to leave when 3 others paddled out. We paddled through the crazy waves and out to Satans Den. Holy mother of all hell. Some serious crap was going down out there. Twice and three times over head dragons deep down from the bowls of the devil. A few shortboarders were out. One got smoked and lost his board somewhere in crazy waves. He was crapping bricks so I offered him a lift on my board out the back to his boat. All good. Miller charged. After being held down and dragged under water by my board I though it was time to head back to the beach. So anyway we went back to the boat ready for departure. After much thought and going through the scenarios with the skipper and Langy it was decided to cancel the trip. Oh well. Thanks Langy for your efforts to make these trips happen. It was a tough call but definately a good call. We will score it next time. So we stayed on the boat over night which was the best idea as I had already popped 2 travacalms and was feeling rather stoned hahaha. I crashed along with the others. In the morning we get our gear off the boat and Miller, Leech and I paddle back out to the Devils Playground. Not as big as yesterday but still sizey. We got in just before the dust storm hit and Gero was turned inside out by some crazy winds. Once it passed we headed back home but Leech and I couldnt resist stopping in at Lano and made the most of the light offshore winds and glassy waves. So much fun until I had to call it quits when the wind swung onshore and I tweaked my busted foot. Back home with foot in ice and a satified and relieved feeling. Im glad we are all safe. Thanks for reading my rant. Stoked

My story is not good as yours Greenie. Didn't get wet apart from dribbling some beer on myself on Fri night hahaha

Was looking forward to a sail at Crazy Waves this arvo but have had to come home / back to work to deal with all the sh!t here from last night.

We got 100kn and not much rain, I scored some free colourbond sheeting from somebody's roof, bung that in the shed as it will be good for something someday and now off to do some chainsawing
