Don't want to say too much just yet but things are progressing.
Definately windsurfing, definately for women and girls of all ages and abilities - keen for the experienced women to help out the newbies.
Most likely Sunday the 8th March almost definately Milang
Trying to get council and sailing club interested in cleaning up some engine blocks and star droppers (send them an email)
Probably some structured teaching to start with by some keen female windsurfers (rigging, up haul, getting gouing tacks and gybesetc) and free sail afterwards
Definatley a BBQ, a couple of big boards and rigs from the local shops
More will be posted soon once we have finalised a few matters - if your keen feel free to post something here!
The boys just have to keep out of the way!

I would try convince my older sister to go, but i don't like my chances ha ha.... i could maybe find a couple mates if your going to have learners gear there, i know a couple friends who wouldn't mind giving it a go...

If they're female/women/girls they would be welcome to use the gear Bubs - I think this is really about womens windsurfing and getting them on the water with help from other female windsurfers!

As you would be aware there have been lots of items uncovered by the receding water levels that pose a risk to people using the water ways. The difficulty in removing them is most of the time they are heavy, are stuck in the mud and require large machines or tractors to remove them. The mud is usually soft near the waters edge and large machinery gets bogged in these areas. As such we are not removing large items from the river or lake unless there is a specific risk.
If you wish to remove smaller items from the Milang area you can place them in the car park near the boat ramp and we will dispose of them from there. There are some community groups in Milang which also undertake work along the foreshore area. ******* at the Milang Old School House 0******* can put you in touch with the these groups.

I would think there is a specific risk. If someone got catapaulted on an engine block and the council had refused to remove it, wouldn't the council then be liable? I got catapaulted on SOMETHING in front of the jetty and damaged my fin. Could have broken my neck.
Anyway, I for one am keen to support this day/weekend in every way I can. I am sure the other experienced girls would be too.
If the windsurfing crew are going to do this clean up can someone pm me- I would love to help out..
Awesome idea with the ladies day- I know two ladies who have taken up windsurfing and even though I dig the kite thing I think it is very important to push for gender equal involvement in both sports...keep up the good work crew.
Sounds like fun my friend and I are new to windsurfing and been to Milang a couple of times to practice I'll keep an eye out for more details :)
Sail at boggy II the water is waist deep and no hidden crap under the water like in Milang.
Milang:
Trash your fin on submerged crap.
Cut your foot open on a broken bottle.
Wade through toxic mud.
Carry your gear a mile to get to the water.
Get catupulted after hitting the sand bank and end up in the toxic mud.
When has windsurfing ever been about shops and toilets. The most important is to have a good safe sailing location Milang is not safe.
Boggy II: no crap in the water and the water is just over waist deep plus you don't have to carry your gear a mile, great sailing spot.

My wife and a few of her friends are keen... Trust me the shops, toilets, cabins etc are the appealing point!
So legless - will you arrange a catering van, play ground, rubbish bins and some shade and toilets for everyone at Boggy 2 -the women would be happy for your contribution?
We have a couple of thousand kilometres of coastline with out crap etc and we would probably prefer to hold this at seacliff or something -the fact is Milang has a degree of civilisation and those with other things to consider beyond just windsurfing can entertain their children get a feed etc from the feedback that people have given it isn't quite a bad as Legless is making out - but i am a saltwater person and flat sailing on any lake to me is quite hohum - Boggy 2 may be great but give me the ocean with some nice waves any day.
Is it true that Womad and the 8th March coincide? If so, does this affect any girls wanting to come?

iT'S THE womad WEEKEND - - Need to make a decision - most people hav'nt said that this was going to affect them
Wife and daughter are v keen - begginer to winner has been playing all last evening - there talking straps and planning alreadty - need to make a decision and finalise plans

Shame it is Women only doesn't give me much of an excuse to go windsurfing.
But it is a great idea it would be great to see more women to get into Windsurfing.
what about the weekend before, the 1st. I think most of the girls I know will be going to womad. But I can ask them.
Unfortunately I probably cannot make it with the girls on the 1st due to wifes work committments - still happy to help out getting something organised though.
So is that any kind of decision?

Is this an event supported by shops with demo gear etc. as I dont think the wife could sail the Fish
