Hi Russ,
Sounds like you're doing your bit in rustling up some interest.
Don't be disillusioned by not seeing much happening, because there are things going on behind the scenes.
I won't say too much on here, but if all goes to plan there will be a comp on the calendar sooner rather than later!

I'll keep an eye out Tony.

Even someting like a club rally with a summer freewave expression session(like the UK series- if there is no waves try some freestyle), BBQ and some cool drinks mmm cool drinks.

I will jot down those who have shown some interest online (Demons11, Divaldo, Dralyagmas, Pitsy) and Personal Mail to catch up re getting some action happening this spring summer - make some of it family friendly as well (but not all cause it's great to escape them every now and then).

Hi Russ,
By the sounds of your post in another topic you're already up to date with the wave comp down at Beachport. As far as a wavesailing association and some local comps go, I'll keep trying to line up some sort of a meeting, but at this stage I've got no news.
Let me know if you hear anything. There still seems to be some communication barriers in sa windsurfing circles... politics!!!

Havn't heard about the wave comp heard a rumor something might be happening but nothing solid - I was goin down there any way as I willbe doing a little bit of work at Millicent on the Tuesday.

Really just lookin forward to a trip away and some decent weather - waves and wind would be a bonus!

Good to hear that something might be happening though.

Had a chat with a couple of people re local wave comps - general feeing was - low key - fun for all and short and sweet - like an 30 -45 min expression session - random judges - four from say an A and B division sail off in a final. over in 2 hours and everyone doesn't sit around all day waiting for a heat, semi and then finals. Then everyone one can freesail, bbq and maybe drink some sponsers beer or soft drink.

First windy sunday of the month/second month and include Robe and maybe beachport (if this is a goer) in the overall rankings - participation scores points -as too does judging, cooking bbq et.

we might even have fun - maybe some "looping" instruction from the experts, summer freestyle instruction, rigging guide and a boot sale/swap meet and a west coast/yorkes club event.
Put together some gear for the juniors to use to help out getting some youngins into it (NSW does this)

Just hard finding the time at the moment to organise something to get everyone interested together in one spot.

I haven't heard about another Robe comp, but that's not to say there's not going to be another one.
The comp I was referring to is the one at Beachport to coincide with the Lake George event over the October long week-end.
I've only got rough details, but it sounds like a small, fun event with beers for prizes.

Apparently (brett from onboard said) - last Oct long weekend was a cracker their with a NW'r with 3-4ft swell and some good banks - it's a bit of an unknown for me as I have only ever seen Phoebe (6yo) & Tom (6yo) sailing in the pool of Silom with guidance from Trevor.

There were some nice beachies for a surf as well.

A social weekend in the Jayco with the family, dog with a sail if were lucky - sounds sweet

If your in for a sail early sat morn Chris on the mid might be a 50/50 chance with some small waves if the Nthly blows

Sounds like you could be in for a good weekend.
Hopefully someone will post some pics on here... I'll be working all weekend so I'll miss the trip.
If everyones going all the way down there it should be epic on the mid and I'll get all to myself haha.

Have fun.
