Let's all chill out- we did not know who the 2 sailors were until somebody on here said one was Timmy......the other sailor was only in the comp zone for a short time. We as a group took issue with the fact that some were singing his praises on here- If a rogue kiter went through a windsurfing comp the kite group as a whole would be disapproving.
He is a sponsored rider for a shop that sponsored this event so I really hope the shop that sponsors Timmy will deal with this in an appropriate manner.
Once again I would like to thank the windsurfing community in general for respecting our event. It was really nice when we were setting up in the morning to get a toot and a wave from Hail...the gap between the two communities is narrowing and I have had conversations with many of the windsurfer crew and it is sad that an incident like this has ignited the us verses you debate, we all enjoy the same stuff and we are all grownups so sharing the space and a common respect should be achievable.
Cheers all.
From someone who windsurfs and kites, i thought i better remind everybody that no one has sea rights so as it would be nice for windsurfers not to sail in kiting comps and kiters not to kite in windsurfing comps, its only a request that can be made, not law so build a bridge AND GET OVER IT !
Timmy has been sailing the mid for 20 plus years so if he accidently ended up in the kite comp area, I suggest the comp organisers ask him politely. If he declines, its basically bad luck. Thats life and big deal. I am sure its not a new trend, thats for sure.
As for blow-ins claiming pro status, well thats about as relevant as the colour of cow poop. (unless he intends going in windsurfing comps? I would be keen to see that and we see how pro he is against some of us amateurs.........)
im just so dissapointed that i missed out on what seems to be THE biggest event in years..... i was in hospital. everyone just chilax!! it was a awesome windy say and everybody had fun!![]()
