I dont want to be a whinge, but after talking nicely to the owners of the Marina (Andrew Chapman) last week, (we wanted to move one of the ropes that were up to keep people away form the machinery, it was agreed that we wouldnt park on the grass.

A few people parked there today which was a bit dissapointing. If anyone does see someone park there, just let them know that the owners dont like it as it kills the grass.

They are more than happy to have us there, using their facilities, accessing the cafe and their toilets etc...I think we need to be mindful of the area when we use it,

It would be crap if they put up fences to stop us going there...not many other places to sail at Goolwa lake.

yeh I don't see why people need to park on the grass as it is a tiny bit of it anyway and anyway all the gear ways next 2 nothing now days so it's not that hard to carry it over. Luckily I know the Chapman's through school so if they do anything I can try to get it back going again. but still people stopping being lazy and think of others that want to use the area as well.

Cheers Will

dude... about 20 cars were there today!!! unless u parked up near the cafe! it had to be the grass. mabye ppl need to learn to park closer together! and save room! atleast there is room. russ says that sydney is a night mare! cant even park to go for a sail.

Yeah ...but Russ is a wuss [}:)]

When it is busy...you sit....& you wait....

.....& you wait a bit more.....& then some one moves..

.....& you rig up...& you go for a sail...

...& nothing else matters.

Work & adapt to the conditions (like when out on the water)

Why not just sail at Milang:
Closer to Adelaide
Lots of very flat water
lots ad lots of bumpy water once you have sailed past the sand bar
works in more wind directions
waist deep a long way out
no parking problems
if you don't want to carry your gear down the beach just drive to the waters edge.
Good Fish and chips.

If you do not mind the snakes boggy II works well can be sailed in all wind directions. parking and rigging area is limited works best in S or SE.

Milang is a great option, just that I want a few options, it would be crap if we started having windsurfing spots taken away form us coz we didnt adhere to a few simple rules.

and Chris, if we had all moved our cars a little closer together we could havbe all fitted, double parked maybe?

Im not trying to be a stick in the mud, just want to keep the peace with the owners.

And Will, I sort of know the Chapmans as well, hopefully it wont get to a lock out situation.

Call me what you like - waiting around for three hours with a 20-30knt forecast (happens everywhere)(after finding a park in 30 minutes) buying a board off someone that met me there for that reason and watching a few people sailing in 12 -15 knts of gusty wind on 120+ litre boards with 7m sails - I seem to have lost the enthusiasm to dodge the arrogant picnicers and rubbish they leave everywhere, (including the water) fifty jet skiers that are doing 360's amongst the swimmers. Beer was a better option - we are used to pulling up in the carpark and just sailing

Example 2 - Went to town to look at the star wars and aquarium with the kids (got there early)- 1-1/2 hour line up at the power house and didn't bother to stand in the estimated two hour wait at the aquarium that went all the way to the pyrmont bridge.

I enjoyed the sails I had at Kyeemagh and Wanda - Love sailing somewhere different - but seriously it's a bad time of the year to be in Sydney and when its like this it just detracts from the experience and makes you realise lucky we have it in SA.

Sorry to hijack the thread for a minute

Agreed Dave.

If I can't get a park close, I normally stop as close to the rigging area (in Goolwa's
case, it would be front of parked cars), drop my stuff off, and then park somewhere
else.

There are "Keep off lawn" signs everywhere I was there to day for 2 hours I saw about 10 cars drive around on the lawn to look at the water.

Did the opening of the lock let any water in? Or did they regulate it?

asdmuzak you sound like a real sad windsurfer putting other windsurfers down ready to bash up anyone who drops in on you. sad very sad the sort of person that spoils the great sport of windsurfing.

You should support all windsurfers however good and any place they sail, lake sea, sand, ice, snow. The important thing is the windsurfing not the place.

I started windurfing in 1981 but not in adelaide thus do not know who you are.

I don't care if people park on the grass.... however i would be really sh**ted off if we lost the ease of such a great sailing spot and rigging area just because someone is to lazy to walk their gear the full 5 or 10m further!!!

It's up to you anyway, i haven't seen it done real recently either. signs are there for a reason so just deal with it.

EDIT/P.S: this thread has gone on way to long lol.... i think we kinda get the message now i guess!!!
