gonna be on tue, wed and pos thu here as well as weekend. but do i trust bom's idea of 20-30k? usualy 30k for under a minute in 4-5 hours and 20k for only 30-50% of that time period. i like it when they cock it up in our favour though. they warn us that "the waves and wind may be greater" but my warning for swell is that when they say meters they mean foot and when they say 20-30k i say "you might not sail". 3 days off itchi'n to get wet

yeah but unfortunately the swell predictions say it will be lucky to be 1 foot at Middleton.

Run the comp at Goolwa - is good when Day St too small - there're loos and a cafe too!

You will be noticed by general public too - not necessarily for your sailing prowess - someone's yellow inflatable rubber ring blew off out to sea - 10 mins later the lifeboat (the one which can drive up the beach) arrived -Q: 'how many of you wind surfers out?'. A: 'Just me and Dave here'. Q: 'You sure - there's supposed to be a windsurfer in trouble?' A 'Sure'. 30 mins later lifeboat returns with rubber inflatable picked up 3 km off shore. No bull!

MAybe some waves maybe a good day for the slalom gear - maybe hanging out till after lunch might be the go and fingers crossed it doesn't go SW too early

Quote Swellnet: Small and inconsistent pulse of S/SW groundswell for Saturday afternoon, easing Sunday
A small frontal system is currently travelling east, close to the Antarctic Shelf producing a tight fetch of severe-gale-force W/SW winds. This system is right in the periphery of our swell window and will only produce a small and inconsistent pulse of S/SW groundswell for Saturday afternoon on the South Coast, reaching 1-2ft at most locations. Ahead of this swell, the surf will be near flat with fresh and gusty N'ly winds expected to tend W/NW into the afternoon and ease.

Quote Coastalwatch:
Saturday
Small surf ahead of a new pulse of storm swell. Flat Mid Coast, 1 to 2ft+ South Coast. N to W winds 20 to 30 knots.

Swellnet what do they know!!!!!!!!!!!

now Magicseaweed are forecasting 2 - 3 foot on the south coast. (ill pick their report)

and the BOM think its going to be 25 - 35kts NW... which sounds good!!!

so Saturdays forecast is 2-3ft with 25 - 35 kts crossoff.

It's winter and even when the surf is small it still packs a punch - be optimistic!

I think magic seeweed is swell heights so 2-3 foot is halfed when it hits the beach. Went to catus the other week end they forecast 8-9 foot on magic seedweed. I would have said it ended up about 4 foot maybe the odd 5 footer max.

Thats why it used to be so good sometimes without the internet forecasting and just look at the weather maps and take a punt - you took the risk and sometimes it paid off - nothing like a surprise new swell popping out of no where and no one around - surfing 2 foot lizards in the morning, 3rd reef Daly's at lunch time and maxed out Salmon hole in the afternoon and just as the local crew hit it it goes 30knt sw .

Ah those were the days - now everyone knows if the swell is going to appear and believe me the car parks are full at dawn if they call a good swell to hit overnight.

We always used to say that Windsurfing was just something the "wind-wankers" use to do when the surf was crap!
