Here, here!Down with twitchyness! When I'm going ballistic I want something solid and stable to hang on to.
Rosey, tell us your greivances with the base. Is it the euro-pin or the twin-pin? Like to use the word gay don't you.

lol...jus pisses me off...i have the double pin one, and the bolt that held the top peice to the uni part always loosened itself off, leaving a big gap between the two...its a nuisance tightening it all the time, but if you dont it puts so much pressure on the nut that it rips through, leavin you with the pin system in your mast and the base still on the board...i thought i might have just got a dodgy one, but i asked a few people and said that they have the same problem..anyone else get this?..thats why i have the euro one now

Ok, I know what you mean, I had the same trouble with chinook, and same with NP now. Haven't had one completely let go though. I'll be wary of it now after hearing your story. Are you using it in waves? I think they're always gonna get loose with lotsa use. Don't get that with euro pin at all do you? I wouldn't use your pin for years without replacing it though. I think if I was using one I'd replace it every year. They do break with a bit of age in case you haven't heard.

I've got the NP twin pin base and had the same problem. I solved it by putting a lock nut above the nylock nut, just be careful with the size of lock nut you use otherwise it fouls the pins. Maybe it is the nylock nut itself since I never had this problem with any of the chinooks I had previously.

Tried locktite first time around, still no luck the nylock is crap. Lock nut is the only way .

Rosey, I've used the twin pin system for years. Never had a nut loosen yet. I do buy a new base each year though, all Neil Pryde bar one. I've read if you wave ride the twin pin is the way to go so I'm sticking with twin pin for now, besides I have five extentions all twin pin, one for each sail ( Yep very lazy with set up ). It would cost a fair bit to switch now.

ye i wave sailed a bit with it, but took a decent beating with jumps etc..but i had only had it for 6 weeks or so before it started. i did change to a new nylok nut and it helped for a while, but i think the damage had already been done to the cup and it ripped out. i jus put a new cup on there and it goes alrite for now. the euro pins that i had had are fine, just a broken uni joint once on an older one...i got told that if you are doing big jumps, the straight uni's are better as they dont have sideways movemont like the ones that go skinny in the middle and big at the top. anyone else heard this?

Yep, I've heard that the tendon joint doesn't give sideways like those other fat-arse ones, but aren't the fat, more flexible ones better to use in waves cos they can take more abuse?
Anyway, the issue of the twin pin cup thingy always coming loose seems to me that it's not the nut coming loose, but instead, the parts are getting looser with wear, and then you have to tighten the nut to compensate. Tried to tighten mine the other day but I think the nut has bottomed out on the thread. I'll try adding a washer.
