RDM rigs about 1.5 cm longer and taller than SDM. Maybe more for boom length. Softer, less locked in feel.

Of course, Hoop cannot understand.
90% immature dolt, then he writes a very good post on the wave section.

As much as it pains me - I would agree with that statement of LeeD's hoop ... He's arguing the extra luff width of sails that can rig on sdm , has to pull out some extra slack on downhaul , and same with outhaul ... I found that once selling an rdm to a guy with his SDM compatible sail - (he wanted to get into waves and needed stronger rdm's) , when RDM sleeved - had to add maybe 2-4 cm of downhaul to get same looseness leech / tension , as can stay straighter in wider luff sleeve for longer - before being forced to bend ... And outhaul ... was having to add boom length to again pull out them extra cm of mast sleeve slack built for wider SDM masts ..

Hey, Hoop wrote a very good post in the wave section and I posted as such.
Give credit where due.

And he has not likely EVER had need to rig an older SDM designed sail on an RDM ... That would be an affront to a windsurf designer and totally outside of their remit ... If others have older sails and can improve them with RDM ... so be it ... move along ...

So why come onto a thread about OLD sails when he has no knowledge of them?

I agree that the downhaul May be effected, 4 cm, a long stretch. More to the point would be that the mast bend curve of the 2 masts would so unlikely be the same, therefore account for a change.
Reference the outhaul, the front of the mast sleeve doesn't know that a reduced diameter mast is in there, the front is the front no matter how much isn't full at the rear. It's possible that a tighter curve on the RDM , vs wider on the fat one, could account for a variation, IMO so little that it doesn't deserve comment. Except to add more BS to a continue line of it.

I don't think improve either, but it would be different. And considering the age of this sail, who really cares.
I do think the sail NALU is a decent option for intended use. But so would numerous others. Price and condition, primary considerations.
