agree with you pompier, I have two of them, but the way the grip is glued to the boom (plenty of small deco bits) is sh!t.....
Had to regrip both after two seasons.
But still my favorite booms !!!!!
Any more news on carbon booms? Snapped my 2nd hand chinook carbon today. I'm looking for something as strong as possible, Dont care about weight, but I can't afford to be paying for a new carbon boom every 3-4 years. Reading the comments so far I'm thinking Severne Enigma or Maui Sails. It will be to fit sails 5.8-7.5.
I have a Severne Enigma 140-190 and a Goya Skinny 150-200. They are both excellent, hard to choose between them. I mostly use the Goya as my most used sail has a boom length of 194. The Goya still feels stiff at 194. I like the head on the Enigma more than the head on the Goya. The back end on the Goya is nicer than the Enigma. The Enigma is slightly lighter than the Goya. If the Goya is cheaper for you, I'd get that one.
Just realized you needed to fit a 7.5. I think Goya make a 170-230 in the non skinny version.
I've been very happy with my X6 and X9 NP booms, compared to the old carbon stuff that used to break on the aluminum front ends they have been awesome. Being able to trust a boom miles off shore is kinda nice!
The only issues have been some ungluing in spots of the grip, mostly because they have made the boom attractive with lots of small sections of grip. I'd rather they just make plainer with once section.
The other issue is the clips if the boom is left unused will crack and split as the "stainless" corrodes. It has only been an issue on the race booms, the wave ones have been fine.
