^ similar, id use the beach umbrella when at my grandads unit at Bongaree. Then graduated to the beach umbrella on 9'6" malibu. From the Jetty to Tiger rocks near Sandstone point n back. About the only board around in those days was windsurfer one design.
My Land board is too slow using Pnuematic tyres. Prefer the roads n carparks. Going to get different bearings (9mm axle instead of 8mm) n change mine to 70mm skatey wheels. Smooth fast rolling
Happy days..
Might have to do an open water run from Caloundra to Moreton Island and back on the Formula.
Take my 10ft tinny. Lookin pretty calm out there![]()
I wouldn't do it unless i had a support boat, supplies, shark shields, epirb and 15 knots of wind at the minimum
Only time a trip to Moreton is on the cards is in Spring with a NE wind with a a storm front moving through from Brisbane and a outgoing tide. NE will always build before a storm and as long as you are heading back to Bribie island before the storms hits Redcliffe you make it back. One time we made it back just as the storm hit Bribie and were minutes from the change of wind. Need a few good mates to look after each other and sail sensibly.
^^ SAIL SENSIBLY??? How does one do that?? Guess that rules me out.
Haha!! Ok, i will follow in the boat.
Thats an awesome mission HARDCARVE1.
Not many have the Cahones to pull that off these days.

Know 2 guys that did it. They recommended not doing it for many reasons after completing it! As fun as it sounds, its got to be right conditions.

yeah they are a bit slow. but on a road / path or carpark they are lots of fun. the path along bongaree foreshore is great.
Wind predicted to be good on Sunday, slight problem - mothers.
Gestalt ! Stop right there!! We need this wind to arrive
hehe..
Have you guys tried Bells Beach at Clontarf in a strong SW. I'm a kiter and an occasional Sailboarder and this place works for us and close to brissy. The wind funnels across from the bridges and there is a nice beach set up. Very flat but the wind has to be strong.
the windwanders held a womem in windsurfing clinic there many years ago.
intended to go there for a sw but wello was always pretty good so just went there instead.
