their are no good waves, when I go, and I take the bare essentials I take a board and sail that will be ok for 18-25knots, considering I only have wave gear, 85l board, 5.2m sail, and 4.8 as i have space for it but usually don't use it.

If I had a freestyle or a freeride board, and a bigger sail i'd take that instead.

if you have some slalom type gear than that would be great you can do big coast runs and sail between islands, just don't try to sail to Gloster the wind can drop or change near middle and the currents can be strong.

you can do some jumps but there is not wave ridding to be had, only ankle slappers.

apparently we don,t get waves here and alva beach is not a wave beach and when i was 29 i new every thing any way the kiters tell me it is very silted up hope to get down an check it out need nth easter to use the speed runs on the sand bars waves are always strong on south easter

Well being that I grew up in Bowen, so i'm pretty sure i know their are no waves in Bowen. so certain am I that good waves do not exist in Bowen, that I give you $1000000 if you can even send me a photo of a good wave in Bowen.

ah it's good to know everything.

you OK sounds like you are getting frustrated, probably lack of wind .tell you what, why don,t you come over for a sail you will still have fun and we really are nice people. PS i was born in Bowen ,i am not implying waves are like Margret river, but we still can have fun it depends if you like jumping or wave riding.when i went to WA in 1989 i found the waves very hard to jump as they did not seem to lip up and i was use to different tack. i also could not wave ride them as i only had slalom boards so never really got in to the waves. may be next Christmas you could come down the coast in the boat for a run 4 meter waves 4 meters a part for 8 hours broke 2 ribs as well split the boat smashed every thing inside
cheers
