Last post for the weekend...

Not much left to say...its going to be windy, really windy, heaps of great sailing , good size crew +30 at estimate at this point, great social in the Bar Sat night Gourmet burgers Sat night featuring gourmet speciality breads from Jaspers Bakery Noosaville, thanks Jefro!

If you have a spare GPS please bring it along (charged) as we have people looking to borrow on the day, would be great to get them on the water.

Bring your PFD, must wear one during the race.

Big thanks to Lake Cootharaba Sailing Club, they have the recue boat and driver on for us Sat, Please support them by spending lots on the Bar!!

Bar opens Friday night, and also Sunday arvo after LCSC Club races Sunday Arvo, aprrox 3pm, Sunday we will aim to finish a bit earlier for those wanting (or believe they will) to beat the rush back to Brisbane..however BEST advice for that is actually to leave LATE...cause 1Million other Brisbane folk that are up here at the moment always say on a Sunday 'lets leave early to beat the rush'....doesn't happen!

Camping is available at Boreen Point still, its sure to be a Who's Who of Qld windsurfing and at the end of the weekend there is going to be a great bunch of data to sort that will list who really are the fastest One Hour windsurfers in the state, based on sailing same conditions, same place same time.

Having said that don't let that put you off thinking its all hard core race..its far from it especially in the Freerace and Newbie class, its about personal bests improving and enjoying your sailing and having fun and meeting other windsurfers...there will be a few kids up no doubt over the weekend also, so family friendly is the theme.

First briefing 10.00am in front (or in!) of the Sailing Club, for 1st race 11Am.

See you there

few queries re the amount of races and what happens if you can only do one of the two days...

to clarify...we will aim to run 3 x 1hr slots both Sat and Sun, you don't have to do all of them.

Your best 3 x 1 Hrs over the weekend is what determines your result.

So if you can only make it on one day, sail 3 Slots on that day and your in.

Or you may do 2 on Sat 2 on Sunday, 3/1 whatever.

Bottom line is if you can only make one day you wont be disadvantaged...unless there is no wind on your day! which is unlikely!

See you there.

Guys, it looks like to enter and pay on Wind Wanderers you have to be a member is that right ? I am a member of Bayside so should I just pay cash on the day ? Sorry for the gumby question.

Hi everyone. no doubt you all had a great time at the lake. Unfortunately I couldn't make it up as I had too much work on to join you. Particularly missed the gourmet burgers, beer and of course the sailing Maybe next time.

Will post full details and summary later in the week, suffice to say everyone had a belly load of windsurfing , 4 x 1hr races were successfully held over the two days, in really tricky and testing conditions, a real test of windsurfing skills and endurance.

Races were super close in some cases just a few hundred meters separating the top few!

Quite a few PB 1hrs were smashed in the weekend which is evidence of how good Lake C is for 1hr sailing.

Brad took out the race division from Steve and Shannon,

a new ladies 1hr champ Joanne knocking Kellie off with a average speed count back.

Jonesy taking out freerace division with couple of + 20knt hrs at the end despite going through the sail after hitting the worlds biggest bull shark at the back of the lake!

A great weekend of fast testing and very social fun sailing had by all, thanks everyone who attended and those that pitched in and helped here and there, special thanks to Anita (Morgan's prettier half!) and Russell and Tony and the crew at the Lake Cootharaba sailing club who opened a world of laid back hospitality facilities for us, and the rescue boat...
Full results later in the week and some replays to come.

Thanks for the great weekend guys, it was a spectacularly successful event with a fun yet competitive vibe, great wind and exceptional organisation by the freerace and LCSC crews. A real credit to the freerace discipline.

There is a spread sheet also up on the Face Book site also with everyone's results.

A little twist on results, 2nd and 3rd are swapped with Shannon nudging out Steve into 2nd position, apologies with that Steve not sure what happened there.

Thanks to Dylan at KA72 for the IT support was great to see many different GPS units being accommodated, the Garmin watches look great and the Canmores are nice and small and well priced.
Will get some more photos up soon, great effort by everyone who competed in testing conditions of both equipment and sailors. Good competitor numbers would be great to build it up to even larger numbers next year and make it the No1 1hr GPS race event in the country.
So the challenge is set, plan your assault for next years title.
Brad, Kellie and Jonesy will be shooting for three wins, Joanne is the new smoky ladie on the water sailing super well, Steve, Shannon and Leo hot on on the heels of Brad.
Seems to Plenty of new no cam sails and freeride boards on the water currently so should be heaps of crew pushing in the Freerace class coming through.
Thanks also to Martin and Zane for pitching in at key moments on the weekend also.
