Who broke his mast? I was glad I "only" snapped my extension and within an easy swim of the beach.
A guy with a shinny blue NP sail. I saw him getting washed over by a big set way at the back on the bombie. I am not sure he expected it as the big sets were a bit unpredictable . It was pretty windy and wild out there.
Ater 15min I went back out to find him as we couldn't see him from the beach. Saw him drifting sitting on his board but could't really get to him as he was not in the most friendly part of the beach , i.e. between the bombie and the beach slowly drifting north towards the headland
Spoke to lifeguards , his mate was also there looking for him.
Then they spotted him still sitting on his board and went to get him.
They were pretty good , got everything on the boat. Sail, boom, and board all good...and guy too.
It wouldn't have been too good to be smashed in the shorebreak or drifting onto the reef.
