Was weird here in the Gong, kicked in at about 12, rushed to the beach caught 2 waves and then it completely died. I chanced it once after it started to drop, managed to get out/in but thought better of it as swim action was on the cards otherwise...still was good for like 20 minutes haha. Desperate times :(

Went out at Long Reef yesterday and sailed Butterbox with Tim and Townie - was great for the first 30 minutes with set waves in the logo high range. Then the wind went completely and we all had a 45 minute swim in! This was about 3pm - way before it dropped off elsewhere.

Shame, thought it was going to be great!

North harbour was pretty decent through the afternoon and didn't have that drop-off you got out at Long Reef captain. Left at 5pm and it still looked OK.

Still, if you did that 45min swim on a regular basis you could maybe get down to the sort of weight that you actually need to chase waves in NSW.....

Very good point!

sure there were quite a few windsurfers later and one pest life guard in a rubber ducky.

Did the life guard have an accent ?

Nah but the windsurfers did, and i noticed one eating a frogs leg on the beach

haha - frog n egg rolls, they are the best!
Yesterday in Wanda was great I thought, one of the first NE session in Sydney this year where we could, potentially, maybe, occasionally, jump on the way out..!

Finally got a sail in. O.k it wasn't the greatest wind in the world. The sun was shining and one could comfortly hang off the sail for 2hours. This was using 111 and 7.5 sail. Just nice to be out and not having rain coming down.

Where do you go windsurfing on a NE wind? Brisbane Waters or somewhere else?

Hi Moby,
I sail Brisbane Waters out of Tascott. I know Canton is good but I don't own a weed fin. It takes me 10 to 15 min to get there from where I live. If I go to Canton thats 2hrs round trip. Thats time I can be sailing. With a family it is hard to get time away for sailing so you grab as much time as possible Not alot of people sail Brisbane Waters but I like sailing there in the NE and SE. Pete who sails Canton use to sail there before he moved away. Most the time it is just Russell and myself with the occassional visit from others. Most the time I sail there on a 145 but I force myself to get out there on the 111.

I was sailing at Tascott fairly regularly for a while on NE winds but gave up after a few times when the wind failed there but it was windy at Kyeemagh. We have a house there that is up the hill from the Koolewong reserve. It has good views of the water and I'd like to move there one day.

Yeah I sailed with Old Pete there a few times and Nigel too who lives at Tascott. However I see them more at Canton when a southerly Or westerly is blowing.

I think Nigel moved away as well. I have never meet Nigel. Might see ya there one day. I have met you once at Narabeen when you were trying to recruit people to the Double Demerts. I think your wife was still sailing then.

My wife still windsurfs and enjoys it. Still the same board and sail. In regards to recruiting, the Demerits are a good size now with a few active sailors, so I'm not looking for new members. We all contribute towards team scores for the month.

I've sailed Brisbane Waters off Tascott in a southerly a few times and its fun with a decent run over to Point Frederick. However it really is a top sail in a NE wind. There is great flat water over by the oyster beds and its great to sail over to the other side. I'm not sure what its called but there are sand bars over there with some mangroves. Its very beautiful.

Looks like the north easters are over for a while now.

Bring on winter!

Is the second & real summer coming this week.

I notice the graph showing high 20's in temperature and NE'rs for the week. And just when I'm flat out at work!

You just had to go and say something didn't you.....

"The first rule of fight club is......YOU DON'T TALK ABOUT FIGHT CLUB!"

Did I mention that I'm on holidays all next week with nothing to do but sail

.....Now let's not speak of the forecast again.
