They are using the SUP blank as it was the only one that would fit the shape of the board, Being a SUP blank makes no difference other than that more needs to be cut away to shape it into a XST 80.

Weeeellll maybe, but as previously mentioned, the deeper you cut into a moulded urethane blank the softer it gets.
If you're not using good sandwich technology or perhaps carbon, it's going to dent very readily.
i didnt notice the density change with the hardcore but i used divinicell in the high stress area's, SWS have you got a gestimate on this board, if its a sup blank it will have a stringer, my guess the board will be weighing in at around 7kgs without straps

Hardcore foam is styrofoam which is extruded and is therefore an even density throughout, PU blanks are moulded so the skin density is higher. I think the styrofoam memory is better than PU but not as good as PS foam. It tends to tear rather than compress.

I'm interested to know what these polyurethane blanks cost.
I reckon it's hard to beat $90 NZ for a block of polystyrene big enough to do 2 boards out of.
And it has memory.
On my speed boards I use 125gr glass/72gr kevlar/125gr glass. Not expensive.
It makes for a nice smooth ride in chop.
I use it only in the back half of the board and only the 1x125gr glass extends ahead of the mast track.
IMHO, speed boards are so narrow they don't have a stiffness problem and don't need cf.
The 2 pack I use (Resene Durapox) is like armour plating and also helps.
Seems to me that the modern PVCs (I use Herex bottom, Corecell top, Airex if I'm feeling flush) are so much better than D/cell that you can get away without much fibre outside.
Just gotta use the right reinforcements under the PVC.
Mine may be not the lightest construction (my 63lit 41.5cm weighs 4535gr bare) but when its blowing 35+ who cares?
