For all those people who worked on the refreshed GPS Challenge site I for one would like to say thanks. It looks very good on my Mac with Firefox.
The linking of sessions to teams is very handy. The rearranged ranking menus are an improvement.
There are bound to be other changes too. Congratulations to all involved. The GPS Challenge builds up the windsurfing community.
the new site looks great and all seems to be in working order my only problem is that tim stockton is still in the juniour rankings. apart from that its fine.
Hi, Like the new look and functionality too - great work.
Miss the mix-up of the NZ teams in the pot - lost a bit of spice?
Any chance of integrating them back in?
Thanks - MartinJE
Nice job guys. Has the age thing been sorted cos I am still listed as in the 'Master' class even though I turned 45 last month?
Great site, well thought out and really well written!
I hate to think the hours that Ben has put into this site re-write.
All we can do is support the site, and the sponsors.
I think some T-Shirts will be available at the presentation for purchase and this helps offset the costs for the site owners.
I for one and some others are clamoring for polo's, please - please.
Thanks for the kind words ![]()
If you're in the wrong age division, then change your birthday in your preferences. This should then rejig the rankings ![]()
How about in the drop down box where you select the country, you have a category for "All Countries" as well as "NZ" and "Australia"? Maybe this would open it up to other countries as well (Croatia?). And then Hardie's world domination would be well under way![]()
So Nebs, has the Doppler / Trackpoint thing been resolved? I am assuming that you want doppler where available, but I recall there was some discussion that Alphas are more accurate in trackpoint? Is this right and what is the GTC policy on this?
Hi AUS1111,
The general consensus is as follows:
NAVI GT11 - Use doppler for most things, but trackpoints for alphas
NAVI GT31 - Use doppler for everything
Garmin - Use 2 second trackpoint, or 1 second trackpoint if you can set your device up this way.
Please note that there is now a new section of the rules, which reads:
Cool - that's pretty much what I thought, and what I have been doing anyway.
It seems fair to say that if you are serious, you would be using a Navi / doppler. That's not to say that everyone should be serious of course!
I think our team captain, Pete, specified a while back that SRM are to use doppler.
Dylan, was that alpha calculated from doppler or trackpoints? cause the tracks, must be trackpoints, if the alpha's doppler, then the doppler data may be within 50m.
That's what I assumed was happening with Adam's 2 files, the trackpoint and doppler data gave different separations.
I wasn't worried about the 500m, it's the 50m separation, that I think is changing here. If you could display the doppler track, I think your alpha would be inside the 50m radius, it's just outside the trackpoint 50m radius
OK we've now got an international leaderboard...
Please let me know if you can think of a better way to lay out the information. Ideas are welcome!!
