I keep getting a password request when trying to Upgrade Firmware from CD, is this the code that Mal is supposed to email back to me? I have already sent him the email request a week ago, I will send him a reminder email.

Are you trying to upgrade the firmware for the GT-11, or upgrade the version of RealSpeed? Mal will send you a code to unlock most of RealSpeed's functionality - this code is not needed for upgrading the GPS unit. Also, what is this CD you speak of?

CD comes with NaviBGT11.

I dont want the upgrade version as 1.804 works fine for my mate so I want to use that version which is what I have installed.

The only problem I have now which is more user error than anything is the realspeed software does look for the Navi but says "Device not conected" I tried all 3 default ports so I am guessinbg that I need Mals Realsspeed password.

Thanks Mathew.

The latest firmware for the Navi, is available from the Locosys website; you probably dont want to use anything on CD, as it will get old quickly, ie: if you are intending on updating the firmware, you probably should upgrade it to the latest version, not an old version.

The GPS-download functionality within RealSpeed is _only_ for the Garmins -> dont use it for the Navi. Rather, simply "file->open" the data file directly from the SD card (ie: eject the card from the Navi, and put it in your card reader).

Also (my memory is a little blurry on this), I think the fact that RealSpeed says "device not connected" indicates that your version of RealSpeed already has the unlock code - without the code, you cannot even access the GPS-download functionality.

Hope this helps...

Hey Mathew,

Some of that I acually understand Cheers, Ok, so tonight I will try to open the files from my folder on my pc, Im sure that will be the same as opening a file from a card in a card reader.

I can see the files .txt which is good so I am only trip, fall, stumble away from getting it all firing.

Thanks again and I will report how I went tomorrow, thats if the wife finisshes with the pc before midnight

Again your patience is appreciated.

Regards GT

Minto, the best way to read your speed files is to copy them from the card and onto your PC. Then open the .txt files directly in RealSpeed (once you get the unlock code)

The only time you need to connect your Navi to your PC is if you are doing a firmware update, and by the sound of it you dont need to do that at the moment.

Hey Grumps,

Right you are and thanks, that was the annoying thing, I followed the Roos guide to the letter, had the firmware, had rspeed, could see the .txt files and all I needed was the code which I sent off well over a week ago but unfortunatly Mal did not receive the email.

As I dont really understand the pc / software world that well, at least until I have had a good play with it. I get lost in the why wont it work!!!! Hense all the Q's. So I appreciate all the help, eh Mino

Lucky for us this site is a good place with genuine helpers and genuine fools even the fools are helpers

Did you guys hear that???

It was the penny dropping

Mal sent the lic number I followed Roo's guide and set the divisions, saved the txt files as gpx, opened google earth, opened one of the gpx files and there was my track on google earth, from home to work and me walking about outside

I am blown away with this gear and how it all works, I cant get over the fact that I basically have a couple of satellites at my disposal whenever I want.

Thanks guys for all your help

G'day Mino,

Had ear marked today for study, but the pc decided that it needed Word and Outlook to fight with each other which stuffed my idea for study, other than that I only have a springy and I like being wet when it's hot.

I know how addictive chasing PB's can get but I got a lot of work to do around the house before the bub and the sailing season get here if I intend to get to sail this season.

I see that it was a pretty hard slog, well done to you and Propercarter for getting out there.

Cheers GT

And others have a steamer in their kit was bloody cold but
Get a blast shield from Windwarrior, you wont need a steamer

And I couldn't work out how Elmo was able to get my speed data and compile it into a nice little file, that showed all I was looking for. However, after much hair pulling, I worked out what he meant by converting to G7toWin files. extracted G7toWin zip into same folder as my RSpeed and it and hay presto I got it.
