My fingers are crossed for better conditions for you tomorrow, Chris and Chris

Thankyou, but no joy I'm afraid; Slowy and I did the dawn patrol but the breeze was only 10-12 knots and dropping.

The sad part is that last night between 8pm and midnight, wind and tide would have been absolutely perfect, but alas, no light!

I'm peering out at leaden skies over Tullamarine Airport as I type this, heading back to sunny Perth with nothing but a serious excess baggage bill, in and out! Thankyou Qantas & Virgin!

As you said earlier the nature of our sport is we rely on nature. Better luck next time Chris. No wind here but at least the sky is blue. Safe jourey home for you and your kit!

I'm sure the SRM will pass the hat around in appreciation for the effort to salvage the cup this month

If it was our team we would

Sorry you missed out Chris, next time for sure!!!!

The bare feet were due to a misadventure while sussing out a spot over at corner inlet in the morning. Spotty and I found some ( not sure what you would call it) quick seaweed???. Looked like you could walk on it but you sank.
No spare shoes and yep my feet were cold.
Also got soaked to the skin twice in rain squalls, thankfully the heater in the Commodore rocks!!!

Must be a lot of wind go past Sandy Point after dark. An expensive option, but maybe not relative to all the other expenses of a speed sailor, but to be a member of the exclusive Sandy Point Speed club you should be required to purchase, maintain and deploy a fully rugged marine wind generator.

www.energymatters.com.au/ampair-pacific-12volt-100watt-marine-wind-generator-p-653.html

Only $1790, 70 watts at 25 knots. Would run two 35 watt marine floodlights - only $29.95 ea.

20 members could light the strip at 40 metre intervals. A very good gust indicator with the lights hitting good brightness at 25 knots.

Just an idea, I'm not even an early morning sailor.

There,s a much cheaper option Ian, I,m running the AY-Up lights ($250)on the helmet and 5 sets of (5w LED and 9v battery) $30 on sticks placed down the course. You can see the bank as you go down and for coming back I have 1 light at the car park end as an aim point. A few problems....its really cold sailing at night....its very freaky sailing fast at night (Best is 36k)....and its best suited to a nice 25kt summers night. Not a balistic SW and a F@$@#ING freezing cold day
When you come back down we,ll set them up for you at Al,s

Checked out that website Kato, they do look impressive.

Could also be handy for our late arriving easterlies, we were pushed for daylight quite a few times this year.

Just some pics/footage from Sundays mayhem searching for new sailing spots whilst the wind direction and tide didn't co-operate as well as one vehicles in-car navigation system
