last week on the river, seabreeze dropped from 15/18 knots to 12/14 SW according
to graph around 5.30pm.
i stopped planing on my 6.7m code red + f2 110 litre,swapped the 6.7m over to my
superlight 7.5kg 150 litre fanatic[75 wide]and sailed for another half hour,not
falling off plane once.
a very large + light board, can make a huge difference to planing threshold.
interestingly i tried another fanatic 150 litre with much larger fin, but around 1kg
heavier than mine the same day and i could hardly get going.
little downhaul + max negative outhaul are essential.
article in starboard forum from german magazine, longer formula style boards plane
quicker than the shorter version.

my best sessions have been on this setup, you dont want to blink when you get a formula board lit up
Might be disqualified for not being over 130l but, this is probably my most efficient session not including formula gear:

Any day sailing is a good day
Any day sailing where you don't have to chug or swim even better still![]()

Fair call.
Weirdly, despite all the water, I've not really seen a good flat water/light wind spot here on the GC where you could safely fire up one of the monster fins these things run.
Broadwater is too shallow and sand-banky and off-shore is too bumpy. Not impossible, I know, but not inviting either. The Train is probably OK, but tidal.
Probably gonna gets howled at for being wrong again.
I have yet to use the OEM fin, way to much snot in the water, been using (shock horror gasp) 50cm Leading edge formula weedy

good fun![]()
The observations are from Loxton, the weather station site is approx 25km away which is the closest one to us, the site is also slighty higher in elevation.
I borrowed my mates 7.2 Neil pryde rs last winter and used it with my jp excite 120 litre board and i was so amazed how much faster my board was in 10-15 knots. I normally use a 6.6 cam sail. I felt like i was doing the same speeds i normally do when the water is choppy and blowing 25-30 knots.. The power and speed of the sail just blew me away, was so amazed. I am prettty sure i was doing 30 knots or close to it. I love light wind speed sailing it can be alot of fun if you have the right gear. You dont need it to be blowing a gale every time you want to have fun speedsailing, thats so 1990s to think like that![]()
Any one got a cheap 7.5 m cam sail for sale???
