So tru Kato, nearly cracked 40 pk at Rye/Port Phillip Bay yesterday, bettered previous PB by ~3 knots, and increased NM a bit as well, plus an awesome 5000 for the Bay.
We may have great conditions at Sandy Pt, but when 45s are becoming the norm there, its the advances in speeds one can achieve at other spots with tougher conditions that give you another buzz. WA's Melville & Peli I would rate as a close comparison to Rye, having sailed the Swan it certainly makes for a great training ground for places like SP.
If you can sail fast in bad conditions, SP will offer you an easy ticket to 40.
