One idea (and yes it may be the only one I have had) I have had would be "pennants" instead of numbers, like in wave comps where they have the ribbon thing tied on to the mast/boom so you know who is competing and who is just getting in the way ;-)

What about each team have a colour for a pennant attached to the mast top, surveyors tape or similar.

Another idea - just to prove I can have 2 - has anyone considered averages of the best 5 for the Alpha, rewarding consistency ?

Seeing as you put up a good idea ribbon colour, any thoughts for consideration, regardless. Would be easy to spot team mates out there. A few blasting past one another last evening not knowing tother was there

Most of us have the Tee Shirts, what about some nice GPS TEAM CHALLENGE stickers for the sails. Kato V27

Ideas I like:
Sail numbers
More profile info
A "Query This Session" button to indicate (maybe anonymously) that you'd like to see the track file for a session in order to validate it
I'd like to see another Alpha division included

Also I'd love to see the site able to upload files for automatic analysis (which is something I was working on last month, but have stopped for the moment as I'm too busy at work.) I think anyway that sailors should probably upload any track files that contain PBs.

Bad ideas:
Handicaps

Would anyone then be able to view this file to verify it?

This would work well I think. It would give anyone the chance to analyse a record breaking run and figure out if the person uploading has made a mistake.
The only problem I see is that if you did some awesome numbers in a secret spot then anyone could see where it was...

Nah leave distance in.... find it very interesting and for someone to be able to sail fair distance (oh i duno take Sam out the hat, 404km, outstanding) that should defently be recognised because thats incrediably skillfull also!!!

Cheers
Bubs

that's not skill that's just craziness!

Oh, and one other thing, it would be great, now that there will be three years of data, if we could somehow distinguish PBs from the current year vs PBs from all time.

And one other, one other thing, could we grey out sailors who haven't recorded a session since 2007?

Some great ideas coming out. I like the suggestion of sail numbers or using coloured ribbon if you don't want numbers. And Team sail stickers. Makes you a target..... i mean a visible competitor.
Also being able to click on a name and have their details of weight and kit they use. User updateable.
Really enjoying this conceot guys. Well done.

Hey Nebs - would it be possible to add on the name line in the comments field, along with the total distance, the six category numbers? It would be good to be able to easily see someone's numbers while reading their comments for the session. Particularly with the big teams where the comments can go past a window in length.

Thanks PaddyMac, good idea.

New site is coming along nicely, as usual with this sort of thing it always takes longer than you expect it to
