I'm also having trouble updating to the latest version, the one with the "speed genie". Like Grumps I'm starting navifu from the directory with his same 3 same files. But I get the password request. I have successfully updated the firmwear previously? What's changed, I can't remember being asked for a password before?
When I was in the NAViFu programme, I wrongly chose the NAVI_FW_V162B0910a and hit execute and that brought up the password box.
I hadn't extracted the Navi_fw.s file from the NAVI_FW_V162B0910a folder, once I extracted it and pointed to the right file it worked fine.
Maybe that helps.
Nat
Thanks Nat, yes that was the problem. A Navifu quirk, the password box that came up should have been a "wrong file format" box. New version V1.62(B0910a) now loaded.

Hey Mineral1, Mal recommends SBN files for realspeed, so it's all sweet mate ![]()
Go to his site and look up GT11, he tells you how to set up the Navi how he likes, good enough for this black duck ![]()
I downloaded the latest works fine, except now it doesn't show the "1HOUR" in realspeed even though I added the division.
Any Ideas??
I think the answer is to un-tick the box in the one hour division properties called 'Strict (No Invalids). Otherwise Realspeed throws out any runs with dropped trackpoints/data points and that often means you have no runs an hour long.
Open the divisions window. Right click on the one hour division to get to and edit the properties.
Hope this fixes it
I too continually get nothing in the 1 hr division, tho the 'strict' box is un-ticked. Using ver 1.913. Any other ideas?
Also, when I run the same file through different versions of Realspeed, I somethmes get different max. results... sometimes a couple of knots difference. Any ideas?
Mike,
I had some problems with 1.9???. Weird results -Same 2s and 10s speeds.
I'm running 1.918 - no problems.

Hi Vando, have the latest CHALKO version...just got it from simon and is set to Doplier. Cant work out the 1000+ km tho and track just a pink line. Had no probs with original firmware, and could reset max speed without having to toggle. May just change back! Or may just appear on your doorstep!![]()
mikey make sure its set to onfix in the memory card settings.
the should fix the red line thing.
ta vando
Ok. One last question... why, whe I run my file through diff
erent people's version of realspeed do I get different results? Same has happened on my 2 diff versions- up to 2kts difference?
quote:yes log switch has 3 options off, on, and on-fix.

Vando, my MEMORY CARD menu has no "on fix"...only LOG SWITCH, which is on.
Found it. Thanks vando. May have to get you to help me update to ver 912a, which I read on gps-speedsurfing is the latest. God I am going to annoy you in the car on the way to S.P.[}:)]

Great for PB etc, but if I just want to check my data from a fun days sailin, would be nice if things worked consistently. What versions of Realspeed and Navi firmware are we up to now....and will it ever stop or keep changing weekly?
Or even better....pick ONE official version of each and don't change it for the rest of the year. Or is that too simple a solution!
Wot a great job- one person checking everyone of the 100s of competitors tracks. You would pray for no wind by the end!![]()
Yes that's the problem that GPS-SS has. There are lots of postings on their forum asking why their numbers aren't included in the table, and it's invariably because some poor timekeeper hasn't gotten around to trolling through megs and megs of data for that day to get the numbers out.
My time is more precious than that, and if you cheat, then you're only really cheating yourself...
