^^ they aren't parallel.
( realized that but specially use this world to differentiate from path that need to cross..... Macro)
For the smart-locking-mechanism, maybe the board will connect to the Cloud, then use A.I. to understand your optimal sailing stance for any given set of conditions so that it handles gybes, wave-sailing and speed-sailing.
I am not sure if Americas Cup 75' depend on humans to adjust angle of foil or microchip/computer.Looks like high speed windsurfing foiling may go similar way.Just stand on the board, give full acceleration by wind and your board will fly perfectly 50 cm above the water no matter what. but since we at inventions, I could post another one now.Obviously we could imagine at Extreme , such a mechanism that will lock or keep moving during the gybe to keep your feet in optimal position during the whole gybe!! Like electronic suspension, or stability control in road vehicle.

Been done on Moths, and lots of other boats. Surface-tracking giving instantaneous response to the foil-elevator - doesn't even need a computer.

... the boat is lying on its side, which makes the demo kind of weird.
You cant keep your feet in optimal-position during a gybe, because the CoMass of the craft needs to move around to make the CoE of the sail... ie: the sail changes camber according to the wind on it during the gybe, so the CoM must move to match the camber.
Moth solution is not practical for our short boards.but something must be invented and made , because nowaday concept of foil is designed to fail terribly !!! The most recent video of AA crashing at 35ktn illustrate that is humanly possibile to control high , pitch at high speed. because our foil have lifting force inbuild any minute change of angle of attack means popping up from water or sinking.
Sail-by-wire is only solution once you reach 50+ ktn, humans reaction time is insufficient.
Unless we design completely new high speed foil board.
In this example the board could be as long as our mast and use ground effect ,and airlon to stabilize flight over the water.
without actually touching the water -as moth stabilizer do.
Most likely we looks like Harry Potter flying the broom .
