Had a PB at Burrum Heads. Might have only been a 'lucky gust' 2 sec peak, but shows the potential of the place. (40.62 with Realspeed- 38.42 10sec). Was wearing a LOT of weight in the jacket.

Wait till Pierre, Vando and the other guns get it with real wind!

Congratulations Mikey

I notice the BOM recorded a 35 knot gust at around 2pm, was that about the time you got your PB?

One big squall came over from Harvey Bay bout 2:30. I guess 30kts n horizontal rain. Got on the beginning of it, then waited the rain out under the sail.

Good one Mikey, must make you feel on top of the world.

Just imagine if you gave up dancing, you could put on weight and get rid of all that lead.

K.A. weight jacket. 16 lb (app7kg ) lead and filled the rest of the space with wet sand (idea of Vando) Prob 9kg in all. Heavy on land; don"t feel it in the water; feel stabler sailing when a gust hit.

Have been doin quite a lot of sailin with 7kg in the jacket (10% my bodyweight) so the extra 2kg was not too bad. Suppose I don't want to crash with that on me. It only feels heavy when waterstarting n pumping on to the plane.

I see that "Mikey100" times on GPS'SS have been taken off for his Burrum effort which included a lot of his PB's.. ( no more dancing on table tops for a while ). the rumour is that he failed to keep a copy of his data and we all know that the rules on GPS'SS state that you must keep a copy of your data as it may be requested for verification especially when you have broken your PB's.
So keep a copy of your data guys..

YES INDEED. But the rumour, as all good rumours often are, is wrong. Had a card/gps malfunction next day and no-one could get the data off the card. Only had saved it on the card, so have learnt my lesson. E-mailed someone?? from GPS-SS (never heard of him before-maybe a mate of yours Al)and requested that the session be deleated as I had...NO DATA

The moral of the story- wear 2 gps units (as we all have had one malfumction at some time) and keep 2 copies of everything on 2 different computers in 2 different countries.
Good news tho is that a windy weekend is finally forecast.

Talk about sour grapes and nappy stomping, rules is rules and that is the rule..., so why are you having a go at me ??? I am only commenting on what has happened and advising others TO SAVE THEIR DATA.,
Well obviously you have learnt something no doubt!! we hope !!..
Have you two Mikes not realized yet that I don't sail between my Sandy point trips, there is an obvious reason that I thought everyone new, " that was to give you young guys a chance to catch up to old farts like myself " yes you got it more training and practice if your going to catch the geriatrics !!!!

Sour Grapes and nappy stompin ??? Just admittin to the world that I have lost all my data. Even e-mailed the team challange crew to this fact tellin them to remove any of my PB's to keep all fair and by the rules. Al, thought you sailed up here in Qld too- didn't know you only sailed in Victoria. Hoped to have maybe seen you out with everyone else this weekend if the forecast holds. Michael Maguire
PS: I requested my results to be excluded from both sites- before I have ever been asked/told this would happen...just want all to be fair.

PS: thanks Al, you are the only person who refers to me as a 'young guy'.....usually I am the 'old fart'.

Haggar- don't know exactly what happened. Was downloading to e-mail to Vando after having run track through Realspeed n written down results and had a blackout/powersurge at home which shut computer down. When Vando got the track it was empty he said. Contacted Matt Robinson in Vic, but his advice didn't come up with the goods. Took card to Simon at B.C. and he found strange video??files. He even took it to some people he knew. Lost all sessions, one being a 22+kt 1hr av from weeks b4 that.

Haggar,Fitss66.. you guys coming to Burrum this weekend if the forecast holds- a few of the boys are goin up?
