Queenslanders probably have had a lot of other things to think about lately. I'm going to try to go. Its over the 18th 19th and 20th of March, right?
Is the Burrum Heads Beachfront Tourist Park a decent place to stay? and make it possible to sail from the caravan park to the event or would the motel be a better place to stay?
ok... so who is the bright spark that decided to hold it on the weekend following a Victorian long-weekend...??? ![]()
hi guys,
yes burrum is definitely happening. the dates are 18-21st of march.... all of the official paperwork has been in for over 6 months now and the barge booked as well as the sponsor discussion. i am working on the event flyer currently and will get that online asap.
by the end of the week categories and prizes etc will be anounced.
so it's go!!!!!! go!!!!!! go!!!!!

accomodation can be found from elders realty burrum heads for houses etc, also try the burrum sands as that's the event central.
this year we will also be holding a freestyle comp
Who is the bright spark who decided to give Victoria a long weekend before the Burrum Comp ?
Is the event happpening? I'm not going to drive 25hours to find out that it's not on, should have gone up last week and sailed in some descent wind[}:)]
CHOCO, I have heard nothing if it is on or not,but a lot of people are coming anyway so please think about coming up you will have a good time away
I hope its on, lady at the camp site says it is so thats enough for me. Just wondering if i can register on the sat morning???? If not were just going to sail and be social, see you all there
Gestalt, Looks like you have picked a good weekend for the Burrum Windfest with sunny skies, 19-28 temp and S.E. winds.
Please advise if it is a comp or a social get together.
does any one know where the notice of race is . Want to come up saturday through to monday so just what to check out the format
Ray - What's happened to the SE wind??
I can't justify the 2000k drive for an event that doesn't seem to have been organized this year, but I will be going past in the next few weeks so if there is some wind I will call in to get Kermit wet and have a rum![]()
thanks vando , will your new speed weapon be ready. If not MK7 has 834 sailboards just borrow some of them ![]()
hey guys,
the event is on!!!!!!! has been for about 12 months now. i've posted that a few times on seabreeze in the last month, refer the top of this page. i understand i've been quiet of late but unfortunately work has gotten in the way.
i have all of the approvals in place, the sponsors are organised including a KA sail as a major prize and a NXS board as a give away. plus windsurfingsales have put in some kit and unfiber have also provided prizes.
sign on is on friday morning at event HQ just near burrum sands. i will be at burrum heads myself on thursday afternoon staying in the house i stayed at last year beside the burrum sands. (i have some spare rooms available)
the freestyle event will be held on one of the weekend days.
all competitors must wear a bouyancy vest and helmets are recomended. all competitors must also be a member of one of the australian clubs. memberships can be taken out at the event to cover insurance requirements.
the end of event bbq will be held on monday night.
this year we have swapped around the classes a little. there will be no radar class but there will be a masters class.
format is a repeat of last year with clearer course outline. each day will see a downwind dash to the finish line ending with a beach landing.
there is no minimum wind strength but there is a max board width of 85cm.
Well few of us are heading up tom lets hope we get some wind.
forecast keeps bloody changing every few hrs but there is a large high moving across it just depends where the low of the coast will pop up fingers crossed
.
Please be aware - Wind gusts can be 40 percent stronger than the averages given here, and maximum waves may be up to twice the height
Oh if only this was true.
^^Agree Vando, the W/E forecast keeps changing from 5 knot northerlies this morning to 12-15knot South easterlies tonight. Hopefully that high will dominate and the low gets pushed up north a little.
i think forecast may actually shape up ok at this point....
does look to be a little slow initially but a lot of the models are starting to say good winds will occur.
fingers crossed........no jinx intended... ![]()
