Weight and leverage is one of the keys to going fast, the quick shorter/lighter sailors tune their setup to take advantage of this, though I have not seen them wearing platform shoes and using custom booms yet.

Maybe..... knots/kg + height + length of arms

Don't forget to factor age in the formula!

I recon + ... oh about 2% for each year over 55 years old.

Um.... I would work out an example but ..........I can't remember where my calculator is.......... um...........what was the question again.............?

speaking of high heels.....

The new Phantom Race 320: the compact version of the 380. A totally new design concept that started with the 380 shortened down to 320. The rocker, the nose vee, the daggerboard and mast track positions were adjusted to match the new length. Super-sized 2cm high heel extensions were added to the deck to maximize the sailor's leverage when railing upwind. Competitive in the 380 class and by far the most advanced board in the 320 class.

A weight jacket significantly boosts leverage. The higher up the weight, the better (as long as it doesnt bugger your back up).

yes but all of the top sailors in speed/slalom are over 6 foot aren't they

Yes mate, but your better polished than them everyone gets lucky somehow

Well I had an idea about this how about making a special category for people whose weight is less than their age????
Not that I'm there yet, (not far to go though) but I suspect Herby's very close.

Seksi points, high heels and now pensioner points

you guys are slappin the piss out of me now

I have another concept that would do to speedsailing what superX did for slalom
It would be a true balls test, but I'm not sure that this generation of speed sailors with their filed, sanded or polished balls is ready.Pity ,as it would show us clearly which is better filed, sanded, polished, diseased or hairy
