That is absolute Gold. Bring back the wind weapons!
Sailboarding was peaking 10 years back i think. I believe that it was much more thrilling faster and hard of the body. Guys were riding 2m bigger sails that what they would today with smaller boards.
ps, this is just my view.
I think you need to decide if you are an ex sailboarder who is still kind of interested in the sport or just a troll like Lotto. Then those of us who like windsurfing know how to respond.
I am a sailboarder. Yes i just sold my last sailboard 3 days ago but that doesn't mean I'm going to buy one for the summer. I love windsurfing but as you do find things that are more interesting. I will never totally give up sailboarding as it is apart of me growing up as a kid. Who knows i may even buy the iRig.
I have set aside a 6 pack of cold VB cans ready to give to the first person to forward loop an air sail.
I guess in the case of sudden rupture , this is exactly what will happen ![]()

Nah I think we know and it is kinda obvious.
Anyone remember these bad boys...
and the Kitewing WaveWarrior version.
Seems to suffer from being the hard way to do things. I saw someone using one of these in Tenerife (on a surfboard in quite tricky conditions) a few years back.

Hi Mark
Im gonna put my 2 cents worth in on this one.
I have had to put windsurfing on hold due to shoulder injuries which are slow healers. This IRig would be awesome for us with injuries to get back out on light gear to get the required strength back and cause less pain to us when out on the water. I struggle to lift my rigs and boards due the weight (even light gear) I even struggle to lift my 2yo son into the car.
So I think if this is within my price range I would not hesitate to get one as a temporary rig to help me get back into the sport which I was really beginning to enjoy before my injury. And then also be able to get my 7yo daughter into the sport as well.

I remember hearing of those. Wonder if that affected kiting - an easier way to get air than sailboarding with the wing.Prelude to kite boosting?? mmm
It might be full of hot air but I'd a good idea. fast little air compressor would help. Fill it with helium?

You didn't see that episode of myth busters, where they filled 1 footy with helium and 1 with air, to see if you could throw it further. Made faark all difference!
Kitewing on a non sinking board ils easier th an windsurfing.. with actual kitewing thé problem is thé weights a wawe warrior is 8,5 kg , wind weapon 10 kg. No light wind use
Is it possible to mount a a portable toilet on a windsurfer?
only jf flush-mounted
Actually went to the gorge at Hood River for the first time a couple of weeks ago. There was quite a few people learning how to windsurf - which was encouraging!
More people kiting though and I didn't see any Wind Weapons ha ha.
They had the Darby 'door' at the museum which from memory got the original patent for a sailboard - back in the 60's?? Didn't look very refined despite having a 'universal' joint.
I wonder if you can trim the sail by individually pumping up different sections to different pressures?

I'd say the ideal pressure would be rockhard psi.

Robbie naish said some interesting comments over the aloha classic. Kai asked him why windsurfing isn't as big as it was in the 80s hay day. He said that gear has become too advanced and high end. Less emphasis on the beginner stage. In the 80s it was simple board and sail combos that whole families could use that then would lead people wanting to better gear as they progressed . He also said his biggest naish brand seller is the sup blow board with windsurfing option. This blow is sail is a good option for people to give windsurfing " a go" if they already own a sup ( with mast plug option). And the more people getting into windsurfing will always be better for us who already do it.
