I really enjoyed sailing there. Best rigging grass ever!!!! I found that further out past the boats was a faster flatter run through the weed banks. Great long runs too but the water was a bit too warm.

..I love the warm water of shark bay Kato ,yes it is flatter out on the weed ,we had big high tides in the afternoons with the seabreeze ,but thats ok
so it was a little lumpy at best ,but freeride gear was the call ,we left our sails rigged all week just a loosen off at night ,if we weren't too drunk to remember after sunset beers every night ,Had 2 awesome days at little lagoon 25+ knots ,Hope to see ya next time Gav ,thanks Bob ,Love the north holidays ,scored 2 good days at safety before flying home also a fav ,12 days was not long enough ,

Did you manage to sail Boobays this trip?

Not much joy for me. Tide were all wrong the whole time up there.

nah, never got there ,I think we got a bit lazy ,when the wind is blowing at your front door its hard to leave
when the sails are already rigged in the back shed ,so I never got to chase my GPS crave .but had a few good days at little
lagoon ,even though we had trouble hanging on.
next year we may go earlier next time ,January is bloody hot
I need to chase more flat water areas if I'm gonna beat my PB,
It was very much a freeride trip .big tides this trip .

I really enjoyed Boo Bays even though I didn't sail the speed course. Great fun sailing the bumps downwind and across both Boo's. Fantastic landscape for fun

The speed course is low tide only, and in the bottom right side of the left boob. Access is from the left side of the left Boob.

I found a video of a run at Boobays 26-11-22 on the recent trip. The low tide this day was just after midday which was long before the wind reached it's peak strength. And even while we were out the tide was coming in fast and conditions deteriorating with each run. Wind in the mid to high 20's. Mistral 47 and 5.2m KA Speed. Fin 19.5 Tribal assy speed.
The water is so clear that it looks shallower than it is, which is a bit daunting until you figure it out. In this run it was all around knee deep.
Later in the afternoon the wind got to a solid 35 knots and our vans were rocking in the wind all night!

Great vid Duf,
sure looks good and inspired me for next year ,
yes been up there where you wait for the wind all day and it howls all night
the hot air gets pushed out so far it takes till night to come in properly .
I think I like November and December best ,because of that .it surely is a great part of
Australia to windsurf ,Just one hell of a drive up there ,I've been going up there since 1997
so it's Special to me ,go check it out crew ,I think in the last 7-8 year We've seen 8-9 other windsurfers
Its soul surfing .its bloody windy up there , in Gero the trees grow at 45%

Was a Denham from the 6 to 14th of January, only windsurfer in the village. (Friends kite, wing).

Big lagoon was worth the drive as well:
