The Bombora X-IT was supposed to use the stepped bottom to track better according to a mate who reckoned it needed a smaller fin. Never had any proof though.
what about how the Starboard Hypersonic ?
did it steer well with short fins ?
That's a MAD bottom shape. Did they go ok?
i had the original one (105l). Great in light winds and upwind, like a mini formula. But for me it had very frustratingly low top speed. Far too much drag I recon. Normal manovouers were not an issue.
In these videos: 5.9m KA Kontrol (Koyote) in barely 12-13 knots of breeze. (Way back on 2008 we didnt have high res cameras.
)
I have seen pics years ago of experimental boards made with similar exaggerated vee, trying to get them to work without conventional fins. Nothing seemes to have stuck.

I had one of those too for a while. I dont think it really did much except slow it down with more drag. ![]()

Is that sandy Point ???
If it is , WOW ! , how the sand dunes have grown now . it would have been great back then .

Yes, but that is on an Easterly in the 'Boat Hole'. That too is not as good now as it has filled up with sand a bit, but you can get a nice window of good depth tide for an hour or so. ![]()
Sorry , i could see that in the second vid . I was wondering about the first vid without the dunes . SW wind ?

Yes, same spot in both vids. But the SW bank was EPIC back then. The spit was flat to the ocean! Laminar wind flow! ![]()
