Nah man that was me holding back... they really are a frustratingly silly design. If I'd have been drinking it may have been worse.

All of my Flying Objects board bags have plastic zippers, don't have any problems with them.

All my Flying Object board bags have plastic zips, but the slider is metal. All are stuck and useless. I guess they're using different zippers now.

Who the heck puts metal zip parts on a salt water board bag? The chunky plastic zips will never corrode, and you can always wash any salt residue off with hot water.

Never thought about buying new sliders...great idea Mark.

The only solution is the plastic big tooth YKK zippers - you know like the one you have on your wet suit.

I have a board bag that's 25 years old (its been reshaped) that has a big tooth zipper and a brass slider (just like your wet suit). Its still going strong.

Have these product managers ever used the product and gone to the beach? They are either incredibly stupid or cleaver, knowing that the sliders will fail and that people will find it hard to find the replacement slider and install it. After 6-12 months of a open board bag, people will give up and buy another bag, as to replace the zipper with a plastic YKK zip and slider will cost as much as a new bag.

And since you can't find a new board bag with a YKK plastic zip and slider, you buy a new bag with a metal slider, promising yourself to take better care of it this time, however you just forgot that one month in the low season to check it - and so the circle goes round.

Or like today, getting to the beach and pulling out your favourite high wind weapon that you haven't used for months - well trying to pull it out of the bag, but the f**king zipper stuck, you've got no tools and you can't get it out of the bag! (I eventually did)

Board bag zippers and finding the right board bag is my nemesis, sorry about the rave, but its one thing the industry just hasn't got right. I'm just about to go to building my own, as I've given up on trying to find the perfect bag.

Ps - Velcro patches sown into the tail, work quite well with old board bags with busted zipers
