Looking forward to the responses to this, as i recently gybed into a kiter, who technically had right of way, but who was so close behind my sail i never saw him. I received congratulations from all the windsurf crew, obviously.
In my opinion, whether you were in right of way position in either scenario, if you gybed onto a wave that someone was already riding, you would be in the wrong ( also you are already in the wrong for kiting and posting on a windsurf forum! haha)

From a windsurfing point of view he is already wrong if kiting, posting or not :-)

Got really frustrated today due to disrespectful behaviors on waves, could only ride 4 waves in 1,5 hours and i had the wave to myself on only one of them. Usually its kiters gybing upwind of me, still had some kiters and wing foilers doing the usual but today it was mostly nonplaning windsurfers not turning back and catching the same wave, some tack upwind of me and catch the same wave.

I go far out till i am the last person to tack, i turn back if i missed the wave and if there is a person on next wave behind me, never sneak to someone's wave. But its feeling like more i obey the etiquette the more people get used to this bullying when they see me.
Normally if people sneak to my wave, i turn back letting them have the wave (not worth the danger) but today i got really angry after an hour of not getting any wave while those disrespectful people got many waves, so decided to put my elbows out, 2 windsurfers and a kiter on same wave 2mts between each, kiter upwind of me (sneak) got destroyed while shouting go go go to me as i didn't give up the pocket, then i bottom turned and almost hit the windsurfer downwind of me (missed his wave and got on my wave while 2 people on it, he is good windsurfer) who got scared and kicked out. Then another good ws'er tacked upwind of me together with a wingfoiler, wingfoiler kicked out on last second but wser and i had some bullfight on the wave which got really nasty later on. Then 2 wsers waiting near breaking point got my wave downwind of me and i couldnt ride it at all as we were too close to each other and had to stay at white waters.
Nobody smiling, stressful looks as if everyone is each others enemy, i don't like this stuff but have to do it not to get bullied.

How do you experienced riders deal with these kind of situations? What is the limit of putting out your elbows out and defending your rights?
