A cordless harness line. So simple.
Replace it with a system using rare earth magnets. I find that an attractive idea
Wouldn't it be cheaper using the common earth magnets ?
Now we are confusing polarity with hilarity.
This one confuses me.
What do I do with the base ? Do I stick it to the board with double sided tape to save time and energy ? Am I supposed to laminate it into a water skill board ?
Mystery solved. You can either attach the base to a inflatable SUP or screw just the top part in. From various ads from aliexpress. btw, if anyone wants to actually risk their life on these things, a "friend" tells me ordering from ali, etc is often about half the price of ebay or amazon. My "friend" orders cycle and other odd stuff there. Much better than Amazon pretending that Dyirible is some sort of recognized brand.

I cannot think a single knock off piece of windsurfing equipment that I would buy. I bought a pair of neoprene gloves and that's it. I don't sail enough to risk a ruined sailing session and I don't make enough money to risk losing a rig because I tried to save few bucks buying a base made with substandard plastic, rubber, brass, and stainless steel.
don't get me wrong, there is a chance that base would be okay but I don't want to be the tester.
I would not mind buying windsurfing stickers from alibaba et al as long as they don't go under the hotcoat.

Yeah I made that mistake once with cheap chinesium harness lines.
The webbing failed pretty suddenly.
Also, related to the mast base thing...
My first board, when I was worse than clueless, was an inflatable windsup. It had an embedded brass plug to screw on the mast base from a reputable manufacturer. Well, I was out on the lake near me, probably uphauling with a bit too much pressure on the base and not the rig, and the plug popped clean out. I showed the manufacturer a picture and even less than 30 days they wouldn't refund me. They would only replace it. If I chopped the board up. So I destroyed it and got a replacement windsup. But I never trusted that for windsurfing. It made a decently quick sup though. Kind of turned me off buying that brand gear (rightly or wrongly, I know plenty of people that don't have problems with that particular brand, but I had an 800 dollar or so sour taste in my mouth).
Good day everyone,
this morning session turned into a swimming session,
My Duotone itendon coming with the Wrench mast extension failed me as you can see on the below picture.
The extension has some sort of shock damper spring inside the of it, so we can't use the normal pin tendon, instead there is this different kind of tendon.
Duotone is supposed to be at the top of the quality but this morning it failed where I would never expect it could fail.
It is as if the holes in the aluminum part that you can see on the picture have gone bigger to let the head of the screw of the tendon go through it. The screws on the tendon are still very tight but useless as they can't hold on the bit connected to the extension anymore.
As you can see, the safety rope of the tenson came absolutely useless in this case.
I will sell this extension and get myself a normal one !

Windows surfing is the next big innovation. Foiling has had its day.

That must be one of the first E boards. LOL

Glad you made it back to shore. While any gear can fail, I don't like these extensions because there is so many more parts that can fail compared to a regular extension. Just keep it simple, there's already enough other things that can go wrong on the water.
that's right i will go back to normal U joint.
actually i have realised that the screws on the tendon are in steel while the upper part connected to the extension is in aluminum.
no wonder the aluminum corroded around the screw area, making the screw hole bigger and eventually letting the head of the screw pass through. Incredible that this design was approved by the brand.

North Sails rebranded Duotone in 2018, there were probably extensions being sold from stock for a while, So your extension isnt new. Yes, the holes got bigger because the screw is harder than the extension. With any kit it needs inspecting for wear. Like boom arm clamps with carbon booms. Chinook used to have metal pins, which ovalized the holes. So they switched to softer plastic which didnt wear the expensive carbon boom away, but the pins wear and fail after approx 300 hours use. So you have to inspect them from time to time. I'm ok with that.
The 'Duotone tendon safety' rope isnt any good here, as its inside the tendon attached to the bolts. Thats dumb as well.
Tendons give a direct feel to the UJ, required by slalom/flat water sailors for a better direct feel. For wave/B&J the softer squidgy Boge type is better, as its less harsh in feel.
So what did NS/Duotone do? Used spring 'suspension' for a tendon joint. It makes no sense to me at all.
In the past they have come up with 'revolutionary' designs in boom clamps which broke masts when slightly over tightened. Thats what you get with 'technical designers' who know f-all about the sport.
