Here is a short clip of me windsurfing on my 115L Naish Starship using my new 5.2 Ezzy Legacy.
I think you're 15-20 litres overboarded. I know the Starship is a magic board and all, but there are limits to everything.

Oh, are we going to do a critique? I've got my list of twenty changes I'd make. But Magic thinks I pick on him so I'll hold fire.
1/ 15-20 litres over boarded.
(and don't say more downhaul, unless you can prove it from information supplied! Can you see the luff?)
I downhauled to the maximum setting, sailing on a 34cm fin. Wind was at 20 MPH. Felt like a gem. If I was over powered, I would have put my 27cm fin on.![]()
Good stuff Magic![]()
Looked like a good set up.
Where is this , if the water rose any higher the house at the end would be taking in water.![]()
Tell me this is not your house you lucky bastard.
At the end of the clip you said its time for a break , did your missus ring the lunchtime bell for hot soup and cuddles ![]()
Looks a nice setup. The lake is quite rough. Only one question. Why do you take your front foot out of the straps when gybing?
Wow.. looks cold and choppy. Nothing wrong with a big board/small size combo for freeriding Magicride. Bit overboarded - just fin down, sheet in and put up with it. Cool video ![]()
That's good speed given the amount of wind. With a 5.2 sail you should be really cranking into that turn and flipping the sail faster. Push it away if you have to. And leave your front foot in the strap through the turn. I'm impressed with anyone who can sail in booties.

Thx John,
I take my front foot out of the strap when I gybe because it bothers my knee due to twisting when leaning over the rail into the gybe. I can rip into the gybe much faster normally but it was kinda gusty during that one gybe.
It was pretty choppy that day. About a 2.5 foot chop day.

Thx Imax,
This is in Klamath Falls, Oregon. That house that you see are a bunch of condos, but I live 5 minutes away from their. I have a cooler on shore packed with beer. Oops did I just say that!! ![]()
Another view of Klamath Lake.
Looks cold.
Isn't magic ride the name of a JP board? But your on a Naish.
Do you know you can change your username.

Water is in the mid 50s now, and I just kept the name Magic Ride cuz I like it. Yes I'm on a Naish though. I originally had a Jp Magic Ride, but just kept the name. It fits me.![]()
In another month the water will be in the mid to upper 60s. By July water in the 70s. Board shorts season. Won't that be nice.
Looking good Magic on your 115 ,I had maxed out blast on my 100 (starship) 5mtr gator fully detuned Friday with a 26 wave fin in big chop real angry sea but totally in controlled was so good But I did drop down to my kode later tho I must do vid next time out and post too.

Thx Nerdycross,
Good times!! Nothing like a board with massive low and high wind range.
Yes, would love to see your video footage. It's always exciting to watch everyone's unique sailing style that suits them and the many locations that we sail in.
Would that be Upper Klamath lake?
Wow!!! Nice job, indeed it is. Have you been here before?
I'm impressed with anyone who can sail in booties.
Booties, no problem, I don't sail w/o them anymore, getting used to them is easy, and I love the protection.
But what I can't do is sail with gloves on, tried all kinds but they always fatigue my hands, so I gave up on those long ago.

I have the same issue with gloves, but finally found a perfect pair. They are 3mm neoprene material with a full Kevlar Palm and fingers. Very flexy glove.

Hey Magic Ride - I am going to order those gloves online.
I see you got a Medium size - I'm 6'4" 180lbs - how do your gloves fit - small or big.
I know its a weird question to ask but hey its the internet!
Thanks
Joe

I'm 5'11", 180 pounds. Medium fits perfect. My fingers and Palm of hand is average size. But you're 6'4", so I don't know if your hands are bigger than mine. Lol!!! Large is too big, small is too small. Medium works for me. Hope that helps.
Hey Magic Ride, what is the highest wind that you can still ride your Starship 115 reasonably under control? and what is the smallest sail you have used with it?

The most wind I will usually take that board in would be 24 knots of wind with my 5.2 Ezzy Legacy wave sail using a MFC 27cm wave fin. It sailed beautifully at Hood River in those conditions with that setup. As gusty as the wind can be their, the 115L just planes right through the lulls. The 5.2 sail is the smallest I own right now. When I move to the Gorge, I will need to purchase a 4.7. There's a guy at the Gorge who uses a 4.7 on his 115L Starship and loves that setup. So he's gotta be sailing in a 25 knot wind range with the 4.7.

One board solutions are great but such a compromise. If you were able to stick with the 5.2 and use a 90/95 litre board as things get over twenty knots, I think you would enjoy things more. Can always detune the 5.2 with a lot of downhaul. A 94 kode would be a fun example.
I like the fact he's only 5 minutes away from the water , there's beer in that esky on the shore and his missus rings the bell for hot soup and cuddles ![]()

When you find out, tell Windsufering because he needs another "f".
Livin the life we can only dream about Magic.
Ill even put up with that cold water,
Is there a room in your house for me and my missus if we come for a visit ?
I bring beer ![]()
