What would you choose, why, and your weight, conditions etc.
I know, I know, been done a few times, but come on, its not like you are windsurfing these days..... :P
you've just described the setup I've had for 5 years now.
120lt voodoo wave/slalom/freestyle board. I think it's called freemove these days.
6.4m KA Kult
5.8m KA Kult
5.3m KA Kaos
plus a stash of fins.
adding a sailable sup got me the less than 10knot days covered.
weight - 110kg
why - I designed my board to be a one board do anything take anywhere board for fat bastards. sails I choose because they are the best sails I've used. ;-)
conditions - flat water, bump and jump, small surf, lakes, ocean, bay.......
Well I reckon I would look for a combo that gave me the greatest range of use possible. I'm 88kgs and sail flatwater mostly, occasionally on the ocean.
Patrik Freeride 135L
Twin cam freeride 8.6m
No cam freeride 7.0m
No cam crossover 5.6m
Then heaps of different fins from freestyle/wave to slalom. I reckon I could be happy with anything from 13kts to 28kts with the right fins.
If I could it would be a 90L waveboard, 4.2, 4.7 and 5.3.
Just need to be able to pick the location also....
For Sydney weather i found the i101 (96 lts) to be most versatile for bay blasting and gps, from 15 to 30 knts.
Sails : Koncept 7.5, 6.6, 5.4
Weight around 80 wet
Naish 84l hybrid wave
Naish Chopper M
Naish Chopper L
Naish Chopper XL
Why-They all rig on a 370 mast so they're light but due to their design, still give me the power I need.
Wind is usually 15-25 kts when the seabreaze kicks in.
Patrik 100 litre slalom with 5.5,6.6 and 7.0. Weight 70 kg
Tried this board out once in 30 knots with a 5.6m and very soft Vector 36cm EX fin and still had a enjoyable day.
Wallaroo SA, weight 95 kg
Carve 121
5.4 - 6.4 np Excess
7.5 GTX
(My second board is a Carve 90, ants pants with the 5.4, water state is usually getting a bit choppy for the 121 when the 5.4 suits)
90kg Ocean/Waves/Flat Water / Mid North Coast of NSW
Fanatic Skate 109TE
KA Kult 6.4
KA Killer 5.7
KA Killer 5.0
The board planes early, gybes sweet, fun in the waves when not too big (which is most of the time in NSW), is fast and user friendly. The sails are light, tuff, have heaps of torque for my weight and are easily handled. A very simple and effective combo.
78kg rider, bump and jump conditions with the very occasional bit of flat water cruising at Inverloch or Sandy Point.
Tabou 3S 86
Ezzy 4.5m Tiger (a 4.2m would probably be a better gap here)
Ezzy 5.3m Elite
Seems to be where I have the most fun and covers 18 knots up to about 30-35 (depending on where) for me.
Kind of given up on the freeride/freerace gear as I am yet to find something that really works for me. So that does make things a bit easier.
I'd probably go a Tabou 3S 106 ltr - perfect world custom paint job - I wish you could order boards blank and go get them custom painted.........
Meat pie & pint index of 85 kg...
BJ mostly - and some flat water and surf very rarely...
Sails:
4.5 Poison
5.4 Poison
6.4 Cross
Would cover my full wind range.... if its 6.4 weather, its getting borderline....
I would struggle deciding on either 96 or 106.... a bit more float does give some more time on the water and nicer if you get skunked, but again, most sailing is in 20 knots up.... so gets a little bashy......
If I could it would be a 90L waveboard, 4.2, 4.7 and 5.3.
Just need to be able to pick the location also....
+1 but swap 4.2 for 5.7 for SE QLD

Wot he said (with the 4.2m) ^^^ Plus, for the 3rd sail, a 3.7m for the super nuking winter northerly days in PPB.
Perth
Freestyle on the River and Woodies
Waves at Coros, Lano, and Eneabba
80kg
Starboard Nuevo / Nude Chopper 90
(Awesome waveboard, and freestyleable if really necessary. Big enough to do tricks and hold a 6.2, small enough to be still awesomish on the wave although the 80 is better)
Severne SWATs
(Cheap, simple, hard to break)
4.2 (for howling days at Woodies)
5.2 (for everything)
6.2 (for lighter days wavesailing and marginal conditions on the river if necessary)
Interesting question. For me the perfect 3 sails and one board setup for wave sailing would be:
WA 5.6, 4.7, 4.2. - 94ish litre board.
NSW 5.6, 4.7, 4.2 - 100 litre board.
SE Asia: 5.6 Severne S1 - 118 litre Goya quad, sail is super light for easy handling in light wind and the whole kit inc board and bag is less than 23 kg which makes flying easy.
Im a tad over 100 kg.
Haven't got one but I imagine a 104ltre Excocet Xcross ( smaller version of my 115) with 7m Severne Overdrive , c 5.2m + 4m freeride for Lake sailing. Weight 63kgs.
I'd need another for flat water..sorry can't exist with one board!![]()
That would see me from about 12kts - 25kts..
95-100kgs depending on time of year.
120 Nuevo
5.6 s1, 5.0 s3, 4.5 blade.
East coast sailing. Light wind. Cross off DTL good waves
On the water as much as possible.
An easy one!
One Board:
A 86L Tabou 3S if I could only have one board...
(I currently have a 76L Tabou 3S and a 105L Tabou Rocket - the perfect combination IMHO
)
Three Sails:
4.5 NP Atlas
5.0 NP Atlas
5.4 NP Atlas
(My current quiver + 4.0 Zone...)
Weight:
64 kgs
Why:
With that combination of board and sails I could sail in anything; flat water to swell/waves and 15 knots to 30+ knots ![]()
