I sold a board then bought the same model board 7 years later.

In 2006 I bought an ex demo Exocet S4, 125l, 80cm wide, full carbon. That model ran from 2004-2006. It was one of the first wide and thin boards. It was a light wind weapon, good for my 9m but too frisky with 7.5m, its not the easiest board to sail.
In 2009 I got into some local slalom racing and bought a Mistral 110 and Fanatic 125l/73cm. We didnt race in light winds, so only used the 7.6m on the Fanatic. It was just about ok with my 9m.
The racing died out after a few years and the Fanatic went soft on the deck, I repaired it. In 2016 I was going to buy another large board, they were GBP 1800 and by then brands were moving to half carbon or had dropped carbon freeride/freerace board construction as it was getting expensive.
I saw a barely used Exocet S4 on E-Bay, so bought that for GBP 300. I couldnt believe it when I picked it up, not a mark on it. I've still got it and use it today. 300 quid for an as new full carbon board. I've used it more than I did the Fanatic and no soft spots or any damage at all. 20% of my sessions are on it with 8.5m. I've no doubt a 2022 board would be easier to sail, but not much faster with me on it and can you get a light full carbon freerace board these days? They dont make them like they used to.

I had a 2006 (Approx.) 131 ISonic wood. My son loved it but it was too advanced for me at the time. So I traded it on a more free-ridey board and my son was guttered. I felt that bad that subsequently, about a year later, I happened upon same year/model board in 121 litres at a really good price, problem solved, son loves it.

Given the wind in SE Qld this year , I'm regretting selling the Naish Titan 160. Selling one thing to fund another can come back to bite you!

Exocet Universal Wave 88l. I broke 3 of them over an 8 year period and sold the last one to my brother. He still has it and won't part with it.
